7/28 Surgery
Hi all. I am officially on the loosing side. I am concerned about how I am progressing. I had surgery on Thursday 7/28. I was released from OSU on Saturday 7/30. I really don't feel like I was ready to come home. Surgery went well and I am so lucky to not have any naussea or vomiting. I am just very tender in my belly and find it hard to walk. I seem to keep my back hunched up so now my back is in spasms. Does this all sound normal?
Shellie
Congratulations Shellie! I had my surgery, Lap gastric bypass, on the 27th and today is my fourth post operative day. I am having a lot of belly tenderness also as well as rumbling gas from the innards..otherwise I feel pretty good. I am fatigued very easily and I keep thinking about eating, but I have not actually been hungry yet. I am also finding walking hard, but my surgeon emphasized I needed to walk daily and increase my walking so I am trying...today it is to the end of my driveway!
I am so excited that it seems that every thing worked and now I can look forward to becoming a normal sized human. Keep in touch with me please I am hoping to help each other. My email is [email protected].
Have a great recovery!
Hope

Shellie,
Hope and Amy are right. I felt just like you do and now on day 5 I have very little belly tenderness. I think the removal of the drain will end that fun. The gas has decreased, and I am able to do more. I am behind on my walking today, but I took a shower, made my own "breakfast" and "lunch" and did some laundry. My husband has been helping a lot, but today I am trying to do a little more. I have to get up and do my "laps" --living room, dining room kitchen, living room. Tomorrow I am going outside early and walk a little way.
I still have some fatigue, but I think the liquid diet contributes to that a great deal. This morning I woke up feeling better than I have in years. I had great energy. I still feel good, but the energy didn't last too long. We have to remember we have had SURGERY, and we need to give ourselves a chance to recover.
I'm glad you posted, because the first couple days I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Let's band together and keep each other updated on our progress.

Shellie,
I had surgery on the same day and I know what you mean, I have belly pain to. But here's the help WALK,WALK,WALK this helps the pain and especilly the gas pains. I also had my back hunched over and felt like an old lady. But I went out at 4:30am to walk off the pain and I took pain med. and it worked. Even though I was in pain I forced myself to walk and it took the pain away. If your pain gets worse you should call your Doctor. Hope this helps you.
Blessings, Bonnie
