6 days post op legs & feet swollen?
WALK WALK WALK!!! danceThis is the only thing that is going to make a difference. The fluid settles in your extremities and you need to get your blood flowing from head to toe in order to move tha****er out of your feet.
At 6 days PO you should have had a BM by now. How are you doing in the potassium department? Eat bananas or other foods with fiber and potassium to get your system moving. Trust me you don't want to get plugged up it's not fun!!!
Good luck!

Hey my fellow 26'er friend
I emailed you.
Sorry to hear about the feet. It seems like we just have these healing stages we have to get through. For me it was the gas first (did you have that...gees rumble, rumble constantly), then the diarrhea (still not completely over but better), now it's constant thirst and lack of appetite. There are a lot of different things we must go through as we heal and they are different for everyone. But as my wise momma says..."this too shall pass". I have to keep reminding myself of that.
I was thinking, besides what I sent in the email, to elevate your legs when you're resting. We do that sometimes in the hospital. Elevate limbs to help with reducing edema. Hey!...call your doc. Tell him about your feet. Maybe you might need something to help you rid yourself of the edema. At work I get patients Lasix sometimes to help. How is your urine output? Is your urine dark? Maybe you're not getting enough fluids.
Ok that's all I can think of now.
Keep us posted on how the Franken Feet are.
my best you you...
Amy

Hi Jennifer,
I've been home since the9th of July but when I went back for my 2 week check up my feet were huge. The Dr.. ordeded an ultra sounnd and found blood clots so be very careful. Sometimes it's not always water. I don't mean to scare you but have your Dr. check it if it's still going on Keep me posted on how your doing.

Hi Cheri
You were right, I went back to see my surgeon on 8-1-05 and he had an ultrasound done, and sure enough, I had a small clot in my calf that I was unaware of!
Now I'm on Coumadin and everything is great! No more swelling! My surgeon is so excellent, he discovered something that was with me for a long time, and if it hadn't been for the surgery, I wouldn't have found it till it was too late! Thanks again take care!
