Ugh....what is wrong with me! I'm 4 days post op and realized that the feeling im actually having is hunger! These full liquids arent doing the trick. But at the same time, i feel like i dont even want to drink them. What else is weird that I notice, is that when i drink clear liquids, like water and crystal light, it makes me feel gassy and bubbly. yuck! My surgery went very well though, knock on wood. Anyone have any suggestions for full liquids other than the protein shakes, cream soups and soupy cream of wheat? Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi Tiffany, I can't believe you are on full liquids 4 days post op. I was on clear liquids for 10 days. That bubbly, gassy feeling is normal. It goes away in a couple of weeks basically. They pumped you full of gas to do lap. I have not felt the least bit hungry, are you sure it is hunger pangs not just the bubbly stuff? How much water are you getting in? Sue 273/261/237/140

Hi Tiffany, we are fellow post operative friends...I am 4 days out also. I have had some feelings of intense hunger, but the cream soups do the trick if I also drink lots of water. Mentally I want to eat and I am trying to come to grips with that. I need to focus on other things which until I am getting out and about more is difficult. One thing that helped me is having sugar free jello with Cool Whip ...I got to feel uncomfortablly full and it didn't feel good. Now I am only eating a small amount at a time. Remember tha****er is our friend! We will get to where we want to be together! Hang in. My eamail is [email protected]. Looking forward to hearing from you. Hope

i wish i could drink more water...but that makes me feel bubbly and weird. I notice that every day I feel a little different. Do you also feel that way? I think that maybe my hunger is mental also. I just cant wait to start feeling a little more normal. Im happy though..i know that im on the road to recovery! Yipeee!!

Hi Tiffany! One of the options per my doctor's plan is instant mashed potatoes - although they are supposed to be prepared "soupy". I add extra milk, salt and pepper...yummy! You actually feel like you are eating REAL food. Much luck, ~Julie

Tiffany, Water does not seem to be a problem for me. I actually wonder what is going on because it seems like I am not having any problems and today is only one week post op. I have even had sugar-free cocoa without problems. Tomorrow is my first post op follow up visit so I will really find out if I have lost any weight. I sure don't feel like I have. I am worried I will not lose anything. This surgery is like my last ditch effort to become a healthy normal weight. My surgeon was able to do the bypass laproscopically and the recovery time has been a breeze so far. The main problem I have is wanting to eat "real" food. I keep thinking about eating. I need to get a hobby! One thing that I have been doing is drinking bottled water throughout my day. That seems to help me keep hydrated. My incisional ports are sore, but bearable. I can feel a sense of fullness when I have a whole cup of soup or drink a cup of coffee, but it isn't uncomfortable and that worries me. I am begining to think I am not going to have the physical restraints I expected with having surgery. That means I have to be self disciplined and I am nervous about that. Well tomorrow I will find out how my first week post op has been. Hope
