Another 26er home and happy
My surgery was scheduled to start at 1:30 ON 7/26, Like the good rule follower that I am, I was at the hospital 2 hours prior to the scheduled time. Earlier surgeries had complications, and I didn't leave pre-op until 6:30. They say it was midnight when I got to my room. I have no memory of recovery, so I wouldn't know.
I was scheduled to come home yesterday, but I had abdominal pain that scared the doc. I'm very glad he was extra cautious, because I feel much better today. I think the pain was the result of late surgery and failure to ask for pain meds after they took me off the morphine button. Everything was being brought to me, and I thought they would do that too. Since I wasn't complaining, they didn't bring any. They even asked about my pain, and I said it wasn't too bad. Bad idea!!
I'n very glad to be home. I got here about 10:30 am, and my husband has been taking care of me hand and foot.

Amy,
How are you doing? I feel good today. I haven't had any pain meds since 1:30 this morning. The stuff makes me tired and sleepy. I need to walk and do deep breathing.
I managed a shower by myself today and was able to put on my socks and shoes, including tying them. Woo hoo!!
I hope you are doing well. I can't wait until we all go to the doc for the first pre-op meeting. I didn't check my scale against his when I went to my pre-op appointment.

Hi Linda
Good to hear your feeling better. Congrats on the shoes! How the eating going?
I agree with you about the pain meds. I haven't had any since the 28th. The meds just made me feel yucky. And now 4 days post op I have no pain. I feel 99% normal. Normal feels so good
Your made of stronger stuff than me. I just know I wont be able to stay away from the scale so I haven't tried. I lost 8 lbs..hehe
Keep on feeling better..let me know how your appt goes..mine is on the 3rd.

I do still have some pain when I stand up or sit down. It's the transition that gets me. Right now I am sitting down, with my feet up (flexing ankles madly) and I have no pain. When I get out of the recliner, it will hurt a bit.
My appointment is on the 3rd also. We will have to give each other a full report. This is really exciting.
My surgeon puts you on a clear liquid diet until the 1st post-op appointment. Broth and SF jello never tasted so good. I don't feel hungry, but I do feel full after I eat. I am coming close on the minimum total oz of liquids per day. I will probably meet it today. For some reason (I felt crappy) in the hospital I asked for chipped ice a lot, but I never asked for a pitcher of water. That wasn't real smart. I know I wasn't meeting the minimum after they took me off the IV.
About the scale. I just don't know what I weighed on my scale. I know what I weighed pre-op at the docs. If my scale matches his, I have lost 7 pounds. We'll see what it is by Wednesday.
Keep sipping, walking and flexing.
Linda
