I am 3 wks post op and having a really hard time with keeping food and liquids down. I made the doc aware and he said this is normal for some people. But I don't know. When I either drink or eat something it is almost immediately I have to go to the bathroom. Please any suggestions.

Don't worry Betty I did too! I am 3 weeks also and for the first two weeks everything I ate went right through me. I am getting better this week though. I take very small sips of my liquid and my protein needs to be ice cold, which I then sip. I wasn't getting in enough water or protein until about 3 days ago I had a breakthrough and I was able to get and keep things down. I met with my dietition and she said this was normal. Again, go very slowly, don't lay down right after eating or drinking and don't stress. It will get better!

Betty when you say go to bathroom, do you mean vomit or diarrhea. And wht are you eating? My doc is very conservative at progressing food stages and I am still on full liquids with no problems. Are you trying something that you might need to wait a few weeks on? Sue

Thanks for the input. I am following my diet as prescribed but now I went back to liquids.

I'm about two and a half weeks out and I am pretty miserable too.I keep having constant nausea and I'm on an anti=nausea patch too. I'm not sure what to do. I was doing fine on liquids but once I switched to food this all started. I hope your problem gets better and we both get to feeling better.Take care. alena

Betty, I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know the nausea is agony. Just take things a little slower maybe? I'm not sure what to tell ya, but I'm praying for a speedy recovery from this! HUGS Kimberly

Hi Betty, I am almost 3 weeks out and I was doing great at first but then started to get sick when I ate or drank. I am thinking mine is due to the dairy. I was using milk in my protein shakes and drinking milk because I love it. I would also get diareah after eating yogurt. So for the past two days I have avoided all dairy and have NOT had the problem. I just thought I'd throw that out there to see if it might hit home with you. Hope you get to feeling better very soon. betty. week three - also known as the " week three blahs" are hitting- it will pass. the only time i felt bad was week three- for about 4 days in that week- only time i had pain- it was in the back and side. and i didn't exercise and do anything. then one day- i just got up the strength and got back on that treadmill- and the next day- i felt much better- i'm on week 4 now- and i don't feel any pain- or discomfort- ... many people have the blahs in week 3.. just need to somehow find the way to get through that week jennnifer

HI Jennifer, I am also starting my 4th week post op and having back pain. do you think this is gas still stuck on the lower right middle section? I will be seeing the doc next Friday for my 2nd visit. Any suggestions like more walking? Thanks for any advise. Joyce C
