Hello all, I just had my surgery on the 26th and have to admit I am doing well. Pain is down to minimal, able to get in my protein and water and clear liquids. My problem is my stomach, like the entire system, is constantaly bubbling, and gassy. Not like the kind you pass just growling, moaning, bubbling..loud enough to hear sometimes. The pressure can really hurt. I've tried gasex but it hasnt helped me so far. And every time I have a bm it's liquid. Sorry if that is TIM but I'm just hoping to hear from others who have had this happen..and hoping that it went away for you and if there was anything you did made it better. TIA, Amy www.closertofine.net

You will have the liquid BM's until you start more solid foods. The gas is normal also. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have any problems with gas. Hang in there. It will get better...by 5 days out, I was walking 2 miles and getting back to normal! HUGS

Hi Amy! I had the same problem, and from what I hear, gas is to be expected. My doctor told me to try over-the-counter Mylanta Gas chewables. It has 125 mg of Simethicone and it really worked for me. Also be sure not to drink through a straw. That can cause you to swallow an excessive amount of air.

I had the same constant rumbling for a good 5-6 days after surgery. They fill your abdominal cavity with a lot of air while in surgery (for lap) and it takes a few days to pass. But it does pass, I still get gas but it's about 10% of what it was the first week. Walking around helps I've heard, I'm in a wheelchair so didn't have that blessing but it passed nonetheless. Welcome to the losing side.

Amy, I had the surgery the same day as you. I am glad to hear that you are feeling fine. I to have the same aliments as you. I came home yesterday. I had not passed any of the "gas" till late last night. The gas pain for me is sharp. But today the rumbling started. It sounds hungry or mad. It is quite loud and my son thought it to be funny. (Glad someones happy about it. ) And as for BM liquid is right. I was not expecting that. Did you come home a loser? I gained 5 pounds yesterday but I am down 7 this morning. ( acording to my scale.) Strange, I guess it is swelling? My thoughts and prayers to you. Here's to you my fellow 26er!! Donna P.

Thanks guys! This is really what I needed to hear. I'm going to try and go for a walk tonight once it's cool enough now that I can stay awake for longer than an hour at a time. First I'm going to the store and getting that Mylanta and see if that helps..I sure hope so. Donna I was up like 8 lbs! once I got home but now thats all off and now I lost 4 lbs so thats cool. I think it's swelling, fluids...and everything like that. I keep thinking "Rummble in the Jungel!"...lol Thanks again everyone...it's good to know this is all normal. Right back at ya Donna..and to all my fellow 26'ers be well..rummble..rummble Amy
