I'm 2 weeks post-op and have been experiencing constipation? I assume it may be due to the small amounts I'm takin in, however I haven't had a bowel movement in several days. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you take anything?

Hi Neshia, My doc suggested Milk of Magnesia but I couldn't get it down. Next suggestion was to eat a few grapes. I did that for a couple of days and it helped. Now, I stew some prunes with lemon and keep them in the frig. I eat one or two a day so I'll stay regular. Pre-op I took fiber pills but was told not to take those post-op so the prunes work well because I like them. Some people don't, but try the Milk of Magnesia first I would say. Sandy

Hi Neshia-I am 3 weeks out and last week I did experience constipation. My doctor told me to buy over the counter stool softener, he did not want me to take a laxative. I bought generic Colace from Wal-Mart. I think the generic name is Ducosat Sodium. It worked like a charm. Any pharmacist will know if you ask for it. Some time ago it was by prescription but it is over the counter now. Also, inexpensive. Take Care, Joyce

Neshia, I was told this was quite normal, so don't worry about it. If you are uncomfortable, just take the advice of the other ladies. GOOD LUCK!!! HUGS Kimberly
