HelloOOO July survivors! I am really starting to feel better. I am able to eat more solid food now without pain. My energy is beginning to return. I do pay for it if I try to do too much. I am getting in 60+g or protein and 60+oz of water a day. It is tough to get the water in though. My calories are in the 500-600 range. I am getting most of my protein from regular food. Although it is mostly soft food- yogurt, cottage cheese, and boiled shrimp. I do use Unjury unflavored in my yogurt in the morning which gives me a good boost of protein. Last night, we had some filet mignon that I chewed very, very well. I do tire easily which would be my only complaint. I am waiting for my small drain incision to heal so I can go swimming again. The scale is going down. I feel blessed to have lost 18 pounds in 2 weeks. Never thought I would see the scale going down again! Hope everyone is healing nicely, Kimmer

Congrats Kimmer, I am 2 weeks out as well. I just started in soft solid food consisting of refried beans, tuna and cream of wheat so far although the shrimp sounds aweful yummy, I'm weary about trying anything else. I have yet to weigh myself, I guess I'm a little scared of that too, my husband keeps asking me if I have weighed, he knows I've lost and is curious but I don't want to be disappointed if it's not enough.

Hi Kimmer, I had my surgery on the 12th also. My doctor finally agreed yesterday that I could get in the pool, but he said not to be doing any swan dives. I have been getting in all my proteins and liquids. My scales said -34 pounds this morning. I have been exercising my butt off though. I walked a mile and a half today and went swimming for 2and ahalf hours afterwards. I am sure alot of what I am losing right now is water. I started at 374 and am down to 340 this morning. I love this new tool. So far I haven't been sick at all. I am supposed to be eating the pureed foods till week 6 but have tried salmon, cheddar cheese, mashed potatoes and this evening my daughter in law cooked chicken fajitas. I got a one fourth measuring cup and put in some of the refried beans, chicken and some green peppers and onions. It all stayed down just fine and was fantastic after the baby food I had been trying. It is good to hear from everyone. Keep in touch. Alice

Hi I am two weeks post-op also and am doing well. I THINK I have developed a lactose intolerance, though and I am afraid to take any dairy. This is where most of my protein was coming from so this is going to be a problem. I am hoping it is just a "passing thing" and that I can get back to dairy soon. I, too, have lost 18 pounds and it just seems unreal to me! Glad you are doing well. Sandy

hi Kimmer! Congrats on your loss. My surgery was the 14th and when I went to doctor on the 21th, I was down 28 lbs and 17.5 inches....I started dancing around the waiting room. This was a great start for me and I know it's going to keep going. I am syked up and ready for this new lifestyle. I've graduated from liquids to mashed potatoes...man they are great! Staying with the 4 oz hasn't been bad at all and even sometimes I'm just not hungry when I'm suppose to eat. Well...started working out again and it feels good to get active again. I get to go back to pool next week. All the support I've gotten from this website has been great and I look forward to talking to more of ya'll in the future. Good luck to all us July post-op fledglings!
