Hi , Today I had my 25 staples removed. I had 5 sets of 5 staples. The one set did not close and now I have a hole that I can see. It is FREAKING me out! Has it ever happened to anyone? I need support. I hate knowing there is a hole under my bandaid!! Thanks, El

I don't have staples so I can't help you there. But I have read where sometimes it has to heal from the inside out. I am sure it doesn't look good but it's fine. HUGS

I have the same thing. On my left side it is like the top overlaps the bottom. The rest are healed but the one. I hope someone else can help but I just wanted to let you know youare not the only one. Crystal -23# @1 wk post op

I wouldn't worry about it. Your surgeon took out the staples and he/she wasn't worried. If it freaks you, just keep it covered. It will heal within a few days. Hang in there!! ~Sue

I have a hole in my tummy cuz my incision had an infection and doc re-opened it. Don't freak, but maybe talk to your surgeon to see whether it's a deep enough wound to be packed, or whether it just needs to heal from the inside out. They say mine will take weeks and weeks (because it's deep....all the way through, you know, like they needed it for surgery).

Like Michele, I have a very deep hole also, because I got a seroma (accumulation of fluid) at 1 of my incision sites. The dr. had to cut the stitches, drain what she could and send me home with cotton strip packing that has to be changed twice a day. It's very deep and will take a long time to heal. I hate that it's there. It keeps me out of the pool & hot-tub but other than the inconvience, it is relatively pain free. If your doctor wasn't worried, you shouldn't worry too much either. Just keep it clean and covered (you don't want anything to get into it) but it will heal. Good luck, Dj

I, too, had a hole where my drains were removed. It was so freaky!1 I just kept it covered and changed the dressing daily. now it is completely healed (two weeks) so don't worry, yours will too. Sandy

Hi, I'm Renee...I too have a place where the staples were removed and one place doesn't looked closed.. Everyone tells me it is closed and the nes tissue is showing but it looks gross to me. I haven't really asked my Dr. since family members who have had staples before look at it and tell me it is ok. Is it bleeding?? If it is, I would ask your Dr. If not, just do what I do, try not to look at it.. Yuck!!!
