sleeping problems
I have been sleeping in the recliner since I got home from the hospital. And over the weekend I tried to sleep back in my bed but it felt like my insides were going to each side I tried to turn to. I couldn't sleep on my back or stomach. I tossed and turned all nite because it hurt to sleep in the bed so much. does anyone have any suggestions or know how long it will be b4 I can sleep back in my bed again??
Tasha,
This is Linda's SIL and since I was here I thought I would pipe up. For me I remember that I didn't feel like sleeping in my bed for about two weeks and it was a few more (at least 3****il I was able to sleep on my side at all...and that was with pillows supporting me front and back. Before that it was the couch or recliner. What a great thing to have post-op!
Good luck with your healing!

Now isn't this funny? I am a side or belly sleeper. Can't sleep on my back because my back will give out plus I snore on my back. The day after surgery, I asked the nurse if it was all right to sleep on my side and she said yes. It took me a while to prop pillows around me but when I did, it felt so good. I always slept on my side since surgery. It's weird though because for about 2 weeks it did feel like when I turned over, my insides were still on the side I just slept on. It went away after a couple of minutes. My sis (an RN) told me it was my muscles that I was feeling. She said when you have surgery, whatever they cut through, the nerves are cut. When you are healing, the nerves re-attach. That is what you are feeling. That's why some incision sites will be so itchy when healing also. It is now 3 weeks since surgery and I can sleep on my stomache. It seems the more I babied myself, the worse I felt. Just don't push yourself too much...Jacquee
Hi Tasha!
One thing that has worked for me when I sleep at night is prop pillows all around me. I make sure I have one pillow under the side that I need to sleep on (typically my right). I prop this pillow under my tummy and it helps "all those insides" stay a bit more in place and not all slide to one side.
Hope this helps! Keep us posted!
