Hello. My surgery is the same day as yours. This is my first time reading the message board. I'm glad I finally did. It's good to know that others are feeling the same way I am. It's taken me about 8 years to get to this point. I'm glad I finally got brave. I have wonderful family and friends who are very supportive. I really think that's going to make the biggest difference. I'm hoping to make some good friends, here, too. Good luck on "our day". God Bless you. Sheryl

HI Randall-I had my surgery on July 6th and I had open RNY. I have a 12" incision. (doc's had to do a little extra work which is why the incision is large). When I woke up in recovery room, I said pain and then I said nausea. I remember them giving me something and that was it. I woke up again in my room and had the "pain Pump". The first day I did use it as well as the second and third day. With each day it was less and less. I am a person that does not tolerate pain very well. Although there is some pain of course with surgery I have to say it was not as bad I as I thought. I have only taken maybe four pain pills since I've been home. After your first shower you will feel so much better and then after the first week it gets better and better. I do believe in prayer and I pray each night for the pre-ops. God bless. joyce
