Roanoke VA area...anyone know of a good lap band surgeon here?

Hi...I'm looking for a great DR that performs lap band surgery in the Roanoke VA area and hope there are some of you who can help. I've thought very seriously about going to MX to have it done but would rather have it done close to home as long as my insurance will cover it. From what I've read from this message board it seems to take so long from the 1st consultation to the actual time of surgery. Guess I'm just really, really anxious to get the ball rolling on my weight loss. Hope to get some great feedback from some of you and thank you very much in advance.

You may have already done this...but you can go to the top of this page and click on "find a doc". (It's about the middle of the top row of tiny print). You should be able to find a Doctor somewhere in your immediate area and the pages will tell you what types of surgeries they perform and how many of those surgeries they have performed. It should even have some patient feedback for the Doctor's in your area that you find. As for how long it takes...it varies a BUNCH! It depends on a couple of things- insurance and what test your Dr. requires pre-op. I have seen some Dr. who get them in really quickly- about 2 weeks after first seeing them. Honestly, those scare me. I certainly wish my process had not taken so long. (since Nov of last year) But I think it's important to do some pre-screening to prevent complications. And I think it's also important that people don't rush into things. This is major LIFELONG altering your body surgery. And it shouldn't be done lightly.
