My surgery date is 7/25/0...
I'm hoping your surgery went well Grace. I wish you the best in your recovery & future for a healthier you!
I was scheduled for the 25th as well. I had complications during surgery with my oxygen level. Everytime they laid me on my back I lacked oxygen which caused my vitals to drop everytime so they stopped the operation. The surgeon didn't want to put me at risk for complications (i.e. stroke, heart failure, etc...). I respect him so much for stopping & not putting me at risk. They kept me overnight for observation; kept me on oxygen, & kept an eye on my blood pressure because it was very low. He cares a great deal for his patients from what I've been told by many people & I saw that care when he came to visit me the next morning. The surgeon came in the next morning unexpectadly & explained what happened. He stayed for a while & it seemed like he didn't want to leave because I think he felt very disappointed that this occured. I'll be meeting with him again in a few days to discuss the surgery again & possibly try again or come up with an alternative. He wants me to meet with their pulmonary doctor to rule out, if any, lung/breathing problems that I'm not aware of. I'm an emotional wreck because of all the pre-op testing, time off from work, all the vitamins, shakes, & waiting for that moment (since Feb) to happen is just a major disappointment. Thanks to my faith, family & friends I'm hangin' in there.

Hello Christine,
Thanks for well wishes.
I am sorry to hear what happen, but I am glad that you are still here with us. My surgery went well, thank the Lord. My surgeon said he had no problems, I was up and walking that night could not pass urine in the bed pan asked the nurse to help me to the bathroom. The following day I was up and walking. I had pain meds in the hospital twice, I was not in any severe pain. The following night I woke up to pain in my chest and a swollen left hand that had me concerned. I called the nurse and she did not seem to care very much, her response was keep your hand up and left the room. I put the call light on, she came in and I asked her to call my doctor. She came back with an aid who took an EKG and the nurse took blood. Then about half an hour later a doctor came and told me the EKG was alright. But I felt sick the entire night and the following day I came home feeling under the weather. My surgeon came early that moring and he told me that they had called him. I had my post-op follow up last Thursday 8/4/05, everything is going well I even lost a couple of pounds, it is probably water from all the IV fluids and the liquids I consumed. I am on a full liquid diet, with follow up in three weeks.
