Elizabeth right now walk as much as you can. Then, check with your dr on other methods. I do use my gazelle as I consider it walking, just don't overdue the stride length. Luci

My doctor recommended that I walk the day after surgery and every day after that!! His patients are required to "walk the halls' at the hospital at least 3-4 laps/day while in the hospital, and 15-30 min/day building up to one hour after that-the more the better!!! I had my surgery Monday the 18th, and today I went to a movie and shopping at the mall with my daughter!! Can;t really believe I feel this good, but must be from not lying around, so get out there and walk!! Debbie

Elizabeth, Yes you need to walk right away right after surgery. My DR. said I can do my same excersice right after my surgery because I'm already doing it now. But walking is one thing your to do right away in the hospital and even at home to. Start off slow and incress every day and your'll feel better getting the meds out of your body quicker and a less chance of and embullision. That's why the hospital wants you to walk lots right after the surgery, so you don't get an embullision that could be deadley. So walk , walk, walk!!!!!!!!!!!!! But ask your doctor about any other excersices you want to do. As every doctor is different and every person is different to. Blessings, Bonnie
