What's everyone eating so far?
I am almost a week out. I was just wondering where everyone is at as far as what they are eating? I can tolerate a lot of diffrent things but not a large quantiy. I can probably on eat about 1- 1 1/2 teaspoons of food.
So far I have tried cottage cheese, scrambled eggs w/cheese, string cheese, sf pudding and egg salad. I also tried some american cheese but I didn't feel to great after that.
So whats everyone else eating???
Hope everyone is doing well, good luck to those with up coming surgeries

Hi Laura I am 2 weeks post-op and my doctor has me on soft foods already. I am eating scrambled egg-beaters, oatmeal, cream of wheat, ground meat, soft cooked veggies and fresh fruit ( but not melon or pineapple, too much sugar) I have not had any trouble eating anything yet but I am very careful to chew everything thoroughly. Good luck and God bless
Tim,
you have to got to be kidding me. You eat all that stuff and still lost all that weight? I can't tolerate eggs but I love oatmeal with splenda.Ground meat, like hammburg? How do you cook it? I would give anything for some fresh fruit, what kind do you eat? And veggies too? I've been craving a banana so bad and my nurse told me not for another 2 weeks. I don't get this all these doc are so diffefrent but yet the same. Some just make you wait longer than others. I want to TELL you something and don't think I'm a slob , I went to Wendys and had an entier baked potatoe, no butter or cream cheese or the skin. I couldn't believe my stomach let me eat that much Is that normal that you know of, have you ever heard of that before? Let me know ok

I'm a week out and I'm still on thin liquids for another week. I usually have two Carnation Instant Breakfast Sugar free Instant Breakfast. I've cheated a little bit and had some mashed potatoes with extra milk, sugar free pudding with extra milk and apple sauce. After that I can progress to pureed soups and scrambled eggs before I get to soft foods and finally solids.
But I'm down 14 lbs, so I won't complain too much.
I am on my second week out (surgery date 7/5/2005). My diet regimin is pretty strict. It is 1 week of clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids (include yogurt, pudding, protein shakes, etc.), 2 weeks of pureed foods, and then 1 week of soft foods. I have to get 90 grams of protein a day so the protein shakes are necessary. I am getting tired of the liquids and can't wait to get to some foods with taste. This is the only thing I am really missing. The doctor says that the opening at the bottom of the stomach, where the surgery took place, is still swollen and that the larger pieces of foods can cause a lot of pain. This is why the diet regimin is the way it is.
Hi everyone
I am a little over 2 weeks post op. Everyone seems to have a different diet.
First week was total liquids broth and water only
Second week 1/2 oz of protein(beef, chicken, pork, fish) and green leafy veges and at least 2 liters of water. Have to eat 3 meals a day no skipping and nothing sweet. Meals will increase slowly.
Not much variety but if I can stay on that kind of a diet I think I will loose pretty quick.
Having no trouble with the liquids (water only)
However I was eating more than the 1/2 oz and I was loosing very slow. So had to go back to the docs diet.
I have only lost 10 lbs in 17 days. I think I should have lost more. Hoping that sticking to the plan with help me loose faster.
Hope everyone else is doing good
hugs from Houston
Pam
