Will someone please help...
Hello, I am 15 days post op, went to the doctor lost 26lbs. I was thrilled. I just want to know has anyone had or ever had trouble adjusting to sipping liquids verses gulping liquids? Has anyone felt weak after just going to the store or being out and about for 30 mins? I think I am having a really hard time adjusting, do things ever get better? Someone please help me over this hump, I just feel disapointed in myself for putting myself in this position in the first place. Thanks, Sherry
Hi Sherry,
I am now 3 1/2 months post op - hopefully through the worst of it. Everything you are experiencing is perfectly normal after what your body has been through. I would say that you'll be experiencing a lot of these types of transitional problems until you get past 3 months.
I am now able to take about 3 gulps at a time. It takes a while to get to this! Just be patient, it will come. My energy is still no where near normal, but improved after 3 months. I continue to take my time with errands and am not able to do everything I could before. I know it will come.
The best news is that I am down 58 lbs! Keep up the great weight loss, don't have big expectations to be energetic any time soon, just take it easy for now. Good Luck.
Linda
Sherry-
Hey congrats on your 26 lb loss!
I heard or read somewhere that if you are having a HUGE problem adjusting to the sipping thing- to start out drinking out of a kids sippee (sp?) cup. (they only let a small amount of fluid come through at once. It's apparently really hard to just gulp something in one) I don't know if that works...but it seems like a good idea.

Hi,
I haven't had my surgery yet I'm scheduled for the 27th and I'm a nervous reck. Anyway one of the nurses with my surgeon said putting your liquids in the freezer can help since you will only drink the liquids slowly as it melts little by little instead of being tempted to take gulps which was one of my concerns. I hope it's helpfull for you!
