Surgery on the 14th... home yesterday
I ended up with an open instead of the lap because I have a fatty liver and some chirrosos had developed. I was really shocked about that. Did have some BP and kidney problems also but am really on the road to a new me. Taking plain tylenol for pain during the day and lortab elixir at night. Hope al the other 14er's (and everyone else too) are doing well. ~Sue
Hi Sue, sorry about the complications but glad to hear that you joined us on the losing side. I am also taking that Lortab elixir. Isn't it nasty. It does help though. This WLS is fabulous!!! I am just 7 days out and the scale this morning said I was down 22 pounds. I have been mixing unflavored whey with skim milk and sugar free Nestles Quick with splenda added. It is pretty good. I put one scoop in an 8 ounce glass and blend it good in the blender. It gives you 21g. of protein. It is pretty good in the sugar free drinks you can get the Great Value brand. The peach and the orange are especially good. The next few days will be rough, but hang in there and you will feel better. Our prayers are with you.
Hey Sue, I got home on Sunday - had to stay an extra day due to fluid retention.
I also had an open. I'm not doing too bad - scar looks great, used glue and steri strips instead of staples or stitches. It's VERY sore, though!
I have not been getting in too much of anything - I am on clear liquids until Monday, and the broth is barely going down. Hubby put an egg in the broth which made it taste a bit better. I eat a popsicle and am stuffed! I can't stand all of the crystal light or flavored waters - too sweet tasting, so I've been having ice water much of the time. Flavors are just way too strong!
Hope you are doing well - take it slow and easy!
Darla
just got back on the board. I am doing ok, getting about 4 -8 oz classes of fluid a day but it is hard. I really start to hurt in the afternoon. I think I push myself too much in the am.
I agree on the sweet stuff... my husband said he hadn't seen that 'kind of face' since we tried feeding the 'baby' carrots! (Pat is now 15!!).
I still have my drain and that won't come out until my output is less than 80 cc/24 hours... I am still at about 140. All in all I guess I am doing ok. I cried last night from hurting and wanting my husband. He went back to Amarillo and will be backhere tomorrow night. A little 'pity party' for me. My sister and family have been awesome.
Take care and when I get home maybe we can email back and forth?
Sue
