:help: Can anyone please...
Pam-
I am pre-surgery. But I have some stuff from my MIL and SIL who are about a year and a half post op. I also have tried a couple of samples during my pre-op diet.
I like the Nectar (made by Syntrax). It comes in lots of flavors. But Strawberry Kewi is my favorite. I have the roadside lemonaide that I haven't tried yet. I like these because they mix easily (no blender needed) and they come in fruit flavors (not vanilla and chocolate). They have no "vitamin" taste to them. (I actually don't mind that weird vitamin taste that some have).
I also order some Any Whey which is unflavored. I am going to add that to just about anything I can in order to up the protein intake. (I understand mixing them in mash potatoes in the early stages when you can eat only mushy stuff works well)
I also like Lean mass matrix Cinnamon Oatmeal. Now the flavor sounds weird..but it tastes good. This is another one that doesn't require the blender.
I do sometimes still use a blender to mix them because I like to blend ice into them. Makes it even better...I think.
Good luck finding something that sits well with you!!!

after trying numerous kinds...wasting so much money...and not even being able to get them passed my nose i have found GNC 100% whey protein in chocolate to be very tolerable. it actually smells like nestle quik powder. it was so good my husband panicked and thought i was taking a kind with lots of sugar in it. it's fine...3 gr. of sugar and 21 gr of protein per serving. i mix it with skim milk of all things and some chipped ice and put it thru the blender. it' actually tastes like a chocolate milkshake and you can't taste the protein in it at all. i wish they made sample sizes of kinds for us to try..would make life so much easier.
You CAN get samples....go to Bariatriceating.com (don't forget to add the www.) Check the preop section- I believe that is where the samples are. They come in little single serving packages.
You can also, I believe, find some samples on this site. Go to the top of this page and look for "store". I am pretty sure they have little sets of sample packs too.
And I agree with you about adding milk and ice chips. Makes it much better. I am also using the carb countdown milk - it tastes fine to me mixed in these drinks.
IF you can tolerate this- adding fresh fruit helps too. For instance I add blueberries to vanilla flavored ones and they taste delicious! And real strawberries in the strawberrry kewi makes it really awesome. (I have no idea if I will be able to tolerate this shortly after surgery though! I am guessing maybe not?!?)

Pam, my first day of full liquids and protein additives was yesterday. None of the flavored protein powders tasted good to me, especially since my taste buds have been effected by the surgery.
Therefore, my wife purchased unflavored Whey Protein from GNC and I tried it with my Carnation Instant Breakfast this morning. For me anyway, it was a vast improvement over the awful flavors of yesterday.
This seems to be a huge topic all over the boards as folks are trying all kinds of different ways to tolerate the protein taste consideration.

P.S.
I noticed that Unjury also sales a unflavored protein product on their website, unjury.com
Good Luck
I'm using Carnation SF Instant breakfast with lactose free milk and unjury protein powder. I had it this morning with vanilla (not bad, not great) and yesterday with chocolate. Probably a little too chocolatie. Later I'll try with Unflavored. I just ordered more so hopefully it will come before the end of the week.
I tried unflavored whey with cream soup yesterday but not that great. It ended up floating in little balls at the top and I swear I could smelll it for hours afterwards.
I have a bunch of other samples but I haven't tried them yet.
I do add an ice cube to the glass to keep everything cold while I drink it but i think I can drink faster then i should be because I can finish 8 ounces in about fifteen minutes.
I found a smoothy in Dr. Phils Cook book that is out of this world,
mixed frozen fruit 1 cup, 1 cup of applejuice and the protein vanilla, blend very well and it's great! Don't drink this too close to bed the Protein will boost your energy and keep you awake for hours. Trust me on this!
Another drink is pinapple juice mixed with frozen fruit(Target has it). this is a bit of sugar so be careful-milk has alot of sugar too.
Good luck -I lost 14 lbs before surgery and 17 total (surgery was Thursday)
