I have a friend who is about 2 years post-op. She can eat pretty much anything normal people do. Just a lot less at once. She can even eat chocolate and ice cream in little doses. That may be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. So far she's lost over 270 lbs. You'll be able to eat regular food again. Try not to push yourself, though. Give yourself time to heal and make sure you listen to your body. Once you are ready to move on to regular food, you will just have to try different things to see how you tolerate them. It's a really big adjustment learning how to eat all over again, but it will get easier as time goes on.

Cheri, I am six days post op and on liquids, also. It's about to drive me crazy!! But I just try to keep looking FORWARD. After four months we should be able to eat any type of food in small amounts. My daughter had this surgery a year ago and I can't think of a thing she cannot eat. She still maintains her weight loss because she watches the amount. So don't worry.............there's a steak waiting for us at the end of the line! Sandy

I am on full liquids until the 27th so this is what I've been "enjoying" . Sugar free puddings with Any Whey protien added. SF popsicles. No sugar added General Foods International Coffee Swiss Mocha. Various protein shakes. I particularly like the Nectars from Syntrax. (Roadside Lemonade & Fuzzy Navel). They are not so thick so its easier to get them down and they don't have as bad of a "protien" taste. For dinners I really like Campbell's Carb Request soups. Chicken Broccoli Cheese is my fav. I just strain it and freeze the chunks for when I can eat pureed. I cut the nutritional value off the can and tape it to the freezer baggy. Hope this helps for now to break up the monotany of full liquids. I know that this doesn't answer your question as far as after a while but I will be glad to share later. Also, my prayers will include an uneventful sugery for your Husband.

My doctor's office gave me a diet separated into 3 phases... It's all laid out what I can eat at any given phase.... You didn't get this from your doc?? Maybe ask them??? Lori c.
