I made it home finally!!

I got home last night. Feeling REAL sore in stomach and have diarrhea horribly. I believe it is all the medicine leaving my body. Surgery went well, I awoke with an irregular heartbeat it was 125 at rest. They couldn't figure out what was causing it. Finally yesterday I was given potassium and it regulated it. I haven't had any other problems. My surgery was on Monday 11th. It was scheduled for 12 noon. I was taken back at 2:25pm. Good luck to everyone. When do I start my vitamins?

HI RENE, I GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL LAST NIGHT . I WAS TOLD BY MY NURSE NOT TO TAKE MY VITAMINS UNTIL I SAW MY DR IN TWO WEEKS.YOU MIGHT WANT TO CALL YOUR DOCTORS OFFICE AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. CONGRATS ON YOU SURGERY WE ARE BOTH LOSERS NOW!

Are you still having diarrhea? I had surgery on Monday also. I am a little sore, but first it was gas pains that were bad. Now I have diarrhea everytime I drink water or soup or protein drink. My doctor said to start vitamins one week after surgery, but I am going to start now since I am not getting much nutrition. Debbie

Hi all -I had open RNY on 7/06/05. I was told to start my vitamins right away. However, every doctor is different. I am on puree foods and some are supposed to do clear liquids for two weeks. It really depends on what your doctor orders are. Take care and best wished to everyone.

Hi Rene... I am still pre-op, but the vitamins start in the full liquid stage. Just make sure to chew, chew, chew. The nutrtionist at Barix told me that bugs bunny or finstones complete are a good choice... I found a store brand for 15.99 -- 250 count that is comparable to flinstones complete. Just make sure that there is no sugar or hidden sugars in whatever you chose. Sorbitol is ok because it is a sugar alcohol and usually is easily tolerated. Mandie
