I had my surgery on the 12th around 9am and came home on the `13th around 4 p.m. I did very well. I didn't think it was as bad as I expected. My surgeon said I was a star patient.walking around the nurses station at 2,4,and6,. I was determined to not give blood clots a chance to set in. I have a very high pain tolerance level. Here at home getting out of bed is rough without the side rails to pull up on, but I managed. I am up to take my meds and start the hydrating process. I bought some unflavored whey at GNC and mixed it with some sf orange sunrise Wal-Mart brand. It tastes pretty good. I have been doing some laps around the interior of my house. I remind myself of Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett specials of long ago. You 50 plus people will remember that. Remember how slowly he moved...........that's me...hey,but at least I am moving.

Priscilla, your surgery day is not too far away. You will do great. It hurts like any thing right now as I try to get up and down, the walking is not too bad although I am huffin and puffin by the time I get to my 5th lap, but I hear each day gets a little easier. I am not even too sure what weight I started out at. The hospital scale only went to 350. I think I am around 370 to 380. Hopefully it wont take too long before I can start seeing the scales drop below the 350 mark. I am trying my best.I have a very high pain tolerance and to me the surgery wasn't any worse than a c-section.

HI ALICE, I WAS LOOKING FOR YOUR POSTING BUT, YOUR POSTING IS IN THE OLD POSTINGS. I'M SO GLAD THAT YOUR DOING SO WELL! THE WALKING IS THE BEST. I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AND I WAS ALSO DOING ALOT OF WALKING. IT HELPS SO MUCH! I CAN'T SAY IT ENOUGH. I THINK THAT, THATS WHY MY RECOVERY WAS FAST. I WALKED LOTS BEFORE SURGERY AND NOW I'M WALKING TWICE A DAY. EARLY MORNINGS AND LATE EVENING. YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT THE THE PROTIEN SHAKES AT GNC THERES ONE THAT THE FLAVOR IS STRWBERRIES AND CREAM. THAT ONE IS REALLY GOOD. I THINK THAT NEXT TIME I WILL TRY THE VANILLA. I'M EATING FULL LIQUIDS 8OZS OF MY PROTEIN SHAKE A LITTLE BIT OF CREAMMY SOUP 4OZS OF MILK, AND MAYBE A HALF A CUP OF COFFEE. THATS WHAT I EAT FOR BREAKFAST IT TAKES ME LIKE 45 MINUTES TO EAT. THEN AT LUNCH I EAT A REALLY SMALL BOWL OF CREAMY SOUP LIKE CREAMY MUSHROOM OR CREAMY BROCOLLI, CREAMY CHICKEN. AND A 4 OZ SIZE PROTIEN SHAKE. THEN FOR DINNER ANOTHER 4OZS PROTIEN SHAKE AND WATER. IN THE EVENING I TRY TO GET AT LEAST THREE 8 OZ GLASSES OF WATER OR MORE. ONLY BECAUSE I WALK 2 TIMES A DAY.SO, LET ME KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING .AND LET ME KNOW HOW MUCH FOOD YOUR KEEPING DOWN. IT SEEMS LIKE ALOT WHAT I'M EATING, BUT IT REALLY ISN'T ITS MORE LIQUIDS THEN ANYTHING ELSE.TALK TO YOU SOON.

Hi Cecelia, my doctor has me on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks. It does say that you can have skim milk though.. I have been adding 2 scoops of unflavored whey to an 8 oz. glass of milk and adding a spoonful of Nestles Quick sugar free. I drink that for most of the day until it is gone. I remember years and years ago in Weigh****cher's they told us milk helps to keep the elasticity in your skin. I figure I better drink plenty because I know my skin is maxed out with stretching. Hopefully the milk will help it to spring back as I lose weight. I also mix WalMart Brand orange drink or peach flavored drink with the 2 scoops of whey and mix up 2 quarts at a time. It is pretty good. I also do the chicken broth and of course the jello. After these two weeks I graduate to pureed foods. He suggested just eating baby food and adding splenda or a little salt to taste. Then the next two weeks I get to start mashed potatoes, cream of stuff, oatmeal etc. After that he said I could try what I like provided there hasn't been any complications. So far I haven't been the least bit nauseaous. My legs are still swollen quite a bit I think probably from the salt in the broths. I just took my normal prescription of fluid pills. Hopefully they won't mess up anything. I have been walking quite a bit in spite of my legs. The doctor said he wanted me to be on my feet more than sitting. This surgery to me was alot easier than I expected. I am so glad. I just hope the weight starts falling off. I go back to see the surgeon tomorrow at 4 to have my stomach drain removed. He super glued all the other incisions so I don't have to worry about having any staples removed. We just got our power back on a storm blew in and I heard a loud thunder than no power for an hour. Keep in touch.
