July 5r's follow up
Hi all! How are we all doing? I've been ok. Had some crying last night - feeling sorry for myself and why I can't eat what my family is having. Feel better emotionally today. Can't eat that much though. Had to go on antibiotics for a pneumonia after surgery and now I have thrush in my mouth. Yuck! Everything tastes awful. Got pills now and hoping things improve soon.

Karen....
I am July 6th person....but I am still replying. I bawled the other night too... I just wanted to kick myself for what I did. I guess we are having post op mourning......My husband asked the perfect question for me to pop me out of my pity party for awhile at least....."DO YOU WANT TO GO BACK THROUGH SURGERY TO GET THIS REVERSED"...You got my answer that would be no. We will be able to eat that food soon enough......just not as much as they do.
I pray for strength for us all!!!!

Hi Karen
Im doing pretty well -- have those moments too but Im not sure what its all about. I really dont want the food that they are eating so Im not sure what Im feeling. I hate surgical recovery period and Im always a bit blue at times during this so its normal for me -- but from what I understand the "food blues" are normal too. Just know you will be able to have those foods again, this isnt a death sentence from food.
Im having trouble w/ one of my incisions draining. I had a LAP RNY done and the one incision on the left side (largest and deepest) decided that it wanted to drain some more on its own early Sunday morning -- I woke up to a mess (my surgeon sends us home drainless) -- so Ive been changing the dressing a bunch of times daily, warm compresses and it looks like it just may be on the mend ... fingers crossed. Once thats done I should be good to go -- no other problems other than the chore of eating and keeping hydrated (who would have thought that I'd ever find eating a chore!)
Take care.

HI everyone
It was great to see everyone's post. I am a bit hungry but nothing I cant handle. I dring like 80 oz of liquid and have eaten very small meals. Never have had too much. I did have a bummer of a day. I went for my post op appt to have stitches out and a weigh in and I only lost 2 lbs since surgery. I still can not believe that after 8 days of strickly liquid diet that on 2 lbs ? It was and is very depressing. However I keep trying to tell myself that I have to be greatful for having the surgery and the benefits other than quick weight loss. I have already been able to stop my diabettes med. My blood sugar is excellent. That is a very very good thing. Hopefully I will loose the weight with in th week.
Anyway.... Karen I hope you are dong better . They say depression is very common after surgery. I take Anti depressents before surgery so maybe that helps a little bit. The thrush thing is awful I hope that too is clearing up.
I pray for your fast recovery
hugs from Houston
