8 Days P/O Y Liquid 4 2 weeks?
YOU ATE!!!!!!!!! you really need to heal- you might be feeling ok on the outside- but your insides are still healing- it will take time- your new stomach is very sensitive. it's dangerous... plus, you could be stretching your new stomach- and the whole point of this surgery is to keep that pouch small- so you feel full faster (smaller portions) and you're defeating the whole purpose of it. you need time to heal and make sure you use this tool on the way it's for...
i was on clear liquids for 7 days- then for 3 weeks i'm ON- blended foods- no more than a 1/2 cup of food (and I can't even get that much!!)
then on soft foods for 6 months.. (SMALL Portions)
you need to ask yourself - is this surgery tool important to you- or is the food??

I have been having such bad chewing cravings it isn't funny, I have my husband eating in front of me, my dr. never told me anything...I have just reasently read why you can't eat...oh my god what have I done...I really F***ed up...Since saturday I have had this numb patch on my lower arm above the elbow and I am really beginning to regreat having the surgery...I have been through back labour but don't have a child to prove it, and in honesty I have eaten more then I said above...HELP
Head hunger is a huge issue... and you need to start dealing with understanding when you are hungry and when you just want to eat.
(I say this as if I am soooo good at it. )
Her comments about the healing tummy are true... and doritos were not good because of that.
Plus, with our tummy being so small now, you can't afford to fill it up with something like doritos. It should have been protein.
I think even more of a concern however, is the fact you ate 4.
You could have stopped after 1 bite/taste or 1 chip.
No, those 4 doritos are NOT going to cause you to gain weight.. but your mentality about them is a dangerous trend, I think.
Part of what we are doing now is adjusting our BRAINS to our new eating.
DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP.
IT HAS ONLY BEEN A WEEK AND 4 DORITOS.
You aren't going to ruin anything based on that.
Spend time now working on your brain.
When you want that cookie or chip... ask yourself "am I hungry, or do I just want it?"
If you decide you are really hungry.. then ask yourself what food can give you the most protein.
However, you are still supposed to be on liquids.
I chewed my popsicles rather than sucking them.. that helped with the chewing need.
You could also chew some ice... but make it small ice or you'll be at the dentist for your teeth!
Again... I say all this as if I am some kind of WLS guru and star patient.
I had a bite of a brownie (bout the size of my pinky fingernail) and a bite of french fry before I was supposed to be on purees.
I am sure in an hour I'll want a pint of ben & jerry's chubby hubby and a cheeseburger.
I've never been a gum person... but my understanding is gum is bad bad bad and surgeon's don't want you to have it.
My surgeon told me a story of a guy who was just a couple weeks out and swallowed a piece of gum.
He had to be scoped -- cause they had to get it out.
Those openings are too small and important to risk anything getting "stuck"
I feel your pain. I was just telling my husband that I hope I can make it in the next two weeks I have to be on full liquids. Then again, I lived through the clear liquids since the day before my surgery. I couldn't possibly choke down more broth. Just take it one day at a time. I know it is hard and there are times when I'm watching TV that I would like to lick the screen. Hey! theres an idea I'm sure I wouldn't want to do that again! When I do get these head hunger thoughts though I just get on the computer and come to this site, play with my son or the dogs, take a walk. You get the picture. Remember, you have come this far you are already successful in that way and you can do this!
K....You can not have crunchy stuff either because it is rough on you sore stomach.....second we can not chew on gum or hard candy (even if it is sugar free) because one the post above you swollow it it get stuck you get sick. second you are swollowing to much air and not getting anything out of it. When I get hunger pains either real or head I drink water and I usually start to get full or have your protien drink. I know it is hard. My husband has eaten in front of me too....and I really wanted to have the tostada he was having the other night. But I asked him if he could eat in another room....with him being understanding about this he had no problem doing so....I would hope your family would be the same way.
Your slipped...I dont want to say its ok...because its not.....but dont beat yourself up about it. Step back and say well shoot...I screwed up and I know I screwed up but I know better now.
If you see something you really want try to think of a positive... "Hey if I dont eat this Dorito....I will be able to get smaller underwear next month or think of something else you will be able to do once we lose the weight."
Put a list of positives on your fridge....I have mine up there....I dont want you to think I am preaching you....I put my positives up because I know its hard. I have had temptations...I know its hard.
I pray for strength for you!!!! I pray for a quick recovery - you will see the loss soon.
