Am I a Lazy Whimp?
I've seen some ladies post about mopping floors, vacuuming and feeding the family only days home from the hospital.
My surgery was a week ago yesterday... and though I think I could mop and vaccuum ok... I can't really bend over to do much more.
And I think I would be exhausted afterwards.
Ditto with cooking a full dinner.
I am proud of myself if I clean my blender after making the protein shake.
Am I just being lazy? Pampering myself too much?
Should I be doing more?
I am trying to walk aroudn the house (and some stores when I can get out)... and do some little housework... but basically, though alert, I just don't feel like I have THAT much energy.
Maybe I am just not trying????
maria each person is so different. one day i can walk on the treadmill for 2 miles- (1 mile each time) but other days- i can't get on the darn thing (yesterday for example) i try not to bend- even though i'm feeling no pain- just because i don't want to set myself back or get hurt (hernia)
TAKE IT EASY- but also get some kind of walking in- the first month is hard.. get the water in- and exercise as much as you can (feeling up to it) once you see the weight come off- maybe you'll feel more energized to walk etc.. more- to get it off even more... ?? who knows

No you are not a wimp. Today is the first day I'm able to sit at the computer for at least 20 minutes without feeling exhausted. It's better everyday but I'm no where near the people who say their are fine once they get home. I've been trying to wein myself off the pain meds. For the last two days I have only take is when I first awake and when it's time to go to sleep. I'm so tired of the liquid diet (I was on the liquid a week before surgery) I see my doctor on next Thursday hopefully he will take me off it. I'm taking all of my vitamins but the b-12 does nothing for me. I'm going to ask for the short on my visit. For the lady who is walking 2 miles, please tell me how you able to do that.
remember each day gets better and better. my date was on the first- i had it "easy" i had hardly any pain. ihad surgery friday late afternoon and was able to go home 7:30am sunday because i was walking so much and all the other things on the "list" that you need to do to go home. Honestly, one day i can walk walk walk and others i would rather sleep.
i don't walk 2 miles at one time. i walk 1 mile in the morning and 1 in the evening. but like i said- i've hardly had any pain- I haven't used ANY pain meds at home. my surgeon said i'm one lucky person (I don't take that for granted) i'm so grateful... i try to get all my water in too. plus i'm on blended foods. every day gets better and better... trust me..

Maria....
You are not being a wimp or lazy....I have been the same way. One day I will be fine the next I am tired and week......HELLO we just had our bodies sliced opened and some you had some your stomachs cut off.....we need to take all the time we can to make ourselves better. How are we going to make ourselves better in the end if we do not take care of ourselves.
