Post Ops- How MUCH are you eating?
Just wondering about how much you post ops are eating in one sitting? Do you measure by ounces? How many meals/snacks do you have each day?
I'm worried because I feel hungry. Not just head hunger (which I know I have as well- what I wouldn't do for a bowl of pasta), but real physical hunger. Maybe I'm not eating enough or often enough. I just don't want to overdo it and not lose as well.

Hi Lauren,
I had my surgery on the same day as you. Today I had baby oatmeal made with skim milk for b.f. - about 1 oz. Lunch was 1 oz tuna with low fat mayo mushed very well. Tonight I had just mast potatoes. I also drank 2 cans of Atkins protein shakes for 40 mg protein. I know what you mean though. My stomach growls like Im hungry. I am also having a bad case of head hunger. I keep thinking thoughts like "is this going to be forever?" not in a good frame of mind right now, but i hear it will pass. hows your eating going?
Karen
I had surgery on the first, and BOY has the head hunger been difficult especially when husband and son (almost 3) are eating up what i want!
but today i weighed myself and i'm down to 238lbs from pre physical 263lbs- not bad for 10ish days!!!
I'm still on blended foods for 2 1/2 more weeks..
here's what i had today
B- vitamin, gallbladder medicine, 1/4 cup of runny oatmeal with splenda and cinnimon
L- LOVED THIS- first time i tried it- 1/8 cup hormel turkey chili w/o beans 2 tablespoons of yougart (blue bunny 85 ?lite) cherry vanilla (didnt' eat the chunks of cherries)
S- smoothie (strained from seeds and chunks) dannon fit and light smoothie 7 oz (but after straining it- was like 6 ozs- and that was GREAT)
2nd vitamin and 2nd gallbladder medicine.
water- 6 cups (tap, propel (grape), and Fruit H2O strawberry)
exercise- 1- 10 minute walk in the morning AND 1 mile walk (took about 30 minutes) this evening- we also went grocery shopping- so i counted all that walking in too!!!
hope that helps.. i know when i can't stand it- i get on that treadmill and walk.....(been way to hot and humid out to get outside!!)

Hey Lauren --
My doc has me on clear liquids thru tomorrow -- FF broths, SF Jello, Crystal lights, water and Isopure for the protein. I struggle with getting in the protein drinks -- they are so sweet (Ive lost my sweet taste -thank God) so I basically just sip water most of the day and throw in a sf popsicle and some broth in the evening.
Ive been lucky - I havent felt hungry or even really had any head hunger episodes and my guy and kids have eaten in front of me (they asked first which I thought was sweet). My stomach is rumbling but its the larger part & Im thinking its gas.
I go to full liquids and pureed foods this week so at least I'll have something to break it up a bit! When it bugs me a little, I just think of all that Ive done to make myself better -- I didnt just go thru this to screw it up by eating something I shouldnt.

I am 8 days post op and I find if I am feeling hungry...I try to drink some more water or have protien shake and that makes me full that I dont feel like I need to eat. I am eating about 2-3 small meals a day. Like I will have one egg for breakfast. Then in about an 1 hour I start my first 8oz of protein and then try to get in as much water before lunch then like today I had lump crab meat (chopped and liquidfied but good) with a little mayo and mustard. Then I had my protien drink and more water.....I spurlged today though and had a splenda diet coke, just half a can though. So right now I am sitting here pretty full...but I am drinking some water every so often. Wish you all well.
