Hi Jennifer, Thanks & I am all in emotions, excited, nervous & wondering how the outcome of surgery. I am in a high risk group cuz I had pulmonary embolism in 1997 & almost died. That time I weighed over 425 lbs. I was in ICU with the trachea for 3 months & pulled thru it! It was eight years ago. Willie, my hubby was very supportive for great encouragement & support to me during my ICU stay at the hospital. God is Awesome & so GOOD! I go to a Houston hospital where the high risk group for weight loss surgeries. I am looking forward to be banded & lose the weight I need to feel better & better in health overall as well. Now, I weighs 385 lbs. I will start my clear liquid diet for 5 days prior to surgery day. Pray for me & great recovery! So long, Be back to July 2005 Surgery board after the surgery,soon Patti

HI PATTI, I'M A JULY 20,2005 IN COLORADO. DAY AFTER TOMORROW I START MY CLEAR LIQUID DIET AND STAY ON IT FOR 7 DAYS UNTIL SURGERY ON THE 20TH. I JUST DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO IT. I GET A BAD HEADACHE IF I MISS BREAKFAST. HOW WILL I DO 7 DAYS OF IT? LINDA HOLTZ

Hi Linda, At first when starts on liquids diet, that is normal to have a headache for very short time cuz your body is adjusting to the diet. For me, I drink more liquids like apple juice, water than usually, it helps. Your doctor is your best advisior. Good , we both be banded on July 20 of next week. It won't be long! I am excitied! 2 days into the liquid diet and i'm starved. probably because i have to cook for my family and then not eat any. it's not quite as bad as i thought though. i'm excited and scared both. mine is not a banding. i had a staple 21 years ago and it really messed up my stomach. when they looked at me with a scope he told me no band. he says he has to do an open surgery and remove scarring and fix blockage and then bypass 75 inches of bowel because of acid reflux. luckily there is a side effect of losing weight. right now my stomach exit has scarred over to just a teensy little hole smaller than a pencil is around. this causes the food i eat to stay in my stomach for a very long time and caused my stomach to stretch to a very large size, then the food exits around the clock causing me to absorb almost all of the calories i eat. after surgery my stomach will be a little pouch with bowel attatched to the side of it. my doc says it is a very risky operation but has to be done before the scarring closes together completely and i won't have a usable stomach. i will be in hospital for 5-6 days. good luck to you patti. linda holtz
