Home and feeling better
Sorry this is the first time I have gotten to post since my surgery on July 6th. Everything went ok....I went home the same day of surger. As you can guess in some pain. Yesterday I went backt the ER because I was having problems breathing. They gave me a better pain drug and xrays. They think it was just from the gas build up but put me on some liquid antibiotic(sp). Fun fun fun...Just a heads up if you feel like passing gas after the first couple of days you may want to go to the potty....because I was passing gas for two days not today I am passing more then gas. Also - I know this is gross to talk about but it must be done. Go get one of those new toilet brush cleaners that you dispose the brush part of it. You gotta know that if you have BM - how are you going to wipe, it hurts to bend over. Take some Kandoo (toddler wet wipes) or baby wet wipes have it hold it and wipe - works like a charm. Also get yourself a back scratcher becase it helps not with just the itches but the pulling on of ones socks and pushing down of ones underwear. As you can guess bending is not a fav past time of mine right now.
Take it easy and see you on the other side.

Its amazing how they want to get you out of the hospital so fast . I had surgery 9 am July 5 and was home by5pm July 6. Of course sore as hell and in major shoulder pain from gas I suppose.
I appreciate your post about the BM - OMG - hurt is right. Thank god I had preperation H handy. I dont even know why I keep going there isnt anything there but liquid
yuk sorry. However even though the bottom is sore the gas is leaving.
Does you stomach gurgle alot.?
I wish you a speedy recovery down wls lane
lots of luck

I was kind of suprise too that they sent me home that fast. I thought with all my asthma that they would at least have me stay overnight. But I was up walking around and they said I could go home as soon as I was awake. Just to let you know I had the LapBand it might be a little different with the RNY or if you did not have it Laproscopic (sp) -(sad that I can't even spell what they did to me)- Also I am back on the road so quickly because I have a wonderful husband that takes great care of me. I would just say take it easy. Thank you all for you comments. I wish the best for you. By the way yes by stomach gurgles and it drives me crazy because it feels funny too. Gas is much better but I still have to rush to the bathroom sometimes. I am able to bend a little bit more.

It is good to hear you are doing well. I appreciate your being frank about the bathroom issues. It is real and we will have to deal with it too. My lap RNY is July 19. I have a gross question for anyone who can help. I am going to have my period. Yuck!!!!! How awful will this be? There's nothing I can do I guess. But I trying to figure out pads vs tampons for surgery and in hospital. Sorry to be so personal....its just a worry I have now. Any advice appreciated. Julie
Julie I went with pads - I hate them make me feel like I am wearing daipers. Boy I have just regressed - diapers - people needing to wipe my butt - just kidding. But with it being so difficult to bend over it will be easer to put on/ and remove the pads. Plus with all the changes in your body I wouldn't want to stick anything anywhere. I was not supposed to even start my period for like 2 more weeks and day after surgery Aunt Flo came for her visit.
