Lisa, I quit smoking 5 yrs ago in March. My husband & I just threw the cigs away and never looked back.. That was one of the best decision we made for our health. It's hard, but if you pray God will help you beat this evil!!!! I will be praying for you! Hugs, ~Jen W.~ 304/281/150

Lisa, My surgeon will cancel surgery if you are still smoking. I know that quitting is so hard but YOU CAN DO IT. Throw them away and when you want one done ANYTHING else. Make yourself walk away from them. take a bath, read a book, get in the car and drive, (with out any cigs with you!!). Hang in there. I wish you luck. God Bless

Lisa, I was a 2 pack a day cig smoker also. I quit on June 11, 2005, had my last one and just said see ya! It is not easy. I did not use the patch, I bought them just in case, but I didn't need to use them. The nicorette gum helped me. I only needed to chew about 4 pieces though. I quit about 6 years ago for 6 months. I was a total bear, gained 25 pounds had bleeding gums, an upper respiratory infection for about 4 weeks. After all that I said screw it and went back to smoking. I never lost the weight that I had gained over those 6 months. I don't know why this time as been different. I so desperately need this surgery that I guess that that is my motivation. I do have the bleeding gums this time, but the cravings are not that bad. Do your best. My surgery is July 11 also, good luck to you. Keep me posted. God Bless, Tina

Hey Lisa, How are you doing? I don't smoke, but I eat. I've been told the same about surgery concerning losing weight. I gained weight with all the anxiety of this surgery. I have a week to go, and need to show some loss. Have you been able to cut down or quit the smoking? Best wishes. Judy
