Hi Claudette, I can try to help you ok? I had to maintain my weight for 2 months and quick smoking at the same time and it was pretty hard, I'm not going to lie to you. But heres what I did, I cut out the chocolate, cup cakes, ice cream. Now that just maintained me but if you do that and cut out the bread and sugar( Which I did to,sugar) I think that'll help. Also eat fruit when you get hungry and drink alot of water which is good for you to begin with plus it'll help you pick up good habits for when you do have your surgery. One more thing, don't eat anything after 6:00pm. Just fruit and raw veggies. Let me knoe how you do ok? I have my surgery on the 6th of July. I can't wait. Good Luck. Cheri

Claudette, My Dr puts me on a strict Adkins diet on July 14 (thinking I would have surgey at the end of June). My surgery was actually not scheduled until the end of July. I have been doing this diet since and I can tell you it works. Here is what my dr put me on 70g protein a day 64oz water a day No more than 30g carbohydrates a day (two slices of bread is 30g). Cut out the white foods: sugar, flour, white bread, pasta, rice. Cut out starcy vegetables (potatoes, corn and peas) Eat very slowly I've now been on it for 3 weeks. I can't tell you how much I've lost (I dont own a scale) but I can tell you I've dropped a pant size! This diet works well. Good luck

Claudette, One more thing, you said you're only eating one meal a day. You need to eat more if you want to lose weight. If you are not getting enough calories your body will think you're in starvation mode and will not drop any weight. It will think that it needs to conserve the fat since you are not eating much. If you want to lose weight you need to eat between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. Don't skip breakfast. Eat a large breakfast (even if you have to go to Mc Donalds and get the big breakfast (throw away the biscuit and hashbrowns) - eat only the eggs and sausage. )

I can help you a little both me and my husband had to loose weight. He had to loose 40, I had to loose 20, but I lost 30. And see you have the same eating habits that I had. But you must eat. You must take in the protein lean High protein meats. Then do your protein shakes in the morning and at lunch if you do not eat. Some nice ones are Isopure and Myoplex. Try to walk just a little each day. (also a week or 5 days before surgery you can do a liquid diet, with your protein drinks and liquids, avoid coffee, tea, soda, because of caffeine and salt, also stay away from high suger drinks) The reason that you need to eat and walk is because you need to speed up your metabolism. When you don't eat it slows your metabolism down because the body thinks that it is starving and it has to reserve the little energy that you have put into your system. You should try to start now because after surgery you will have to eat every 2 hours things high in protein in order to start and maintain the weight loss process. If you don't it will be very difficult to loose your weight. I am a nurse so if you have any question just email me at [email protected] and if I don't have the answer I will research it for you. My surgery is July 6, 2005 Good luck you can do it. I did! God Bless.
