Dentist before surgery or after
Okay this may be a stupid question but for some reason I think that you cannot go the dentist before surgery, like one week? Is this just an old wives tale that I am thinking about or does anybody know what the rule is?
Thanks, I have a dental cleaning on the 15th and surgery (lapband) on the 27th so I think I should be okay?
Thanks in advance for any advice
God Bless

Jayme,
Not sure about anything like that. I cracked a tooth last week and had to go get a temporary crown (my surgery is on the 5th). I'm even going to have surgery with the temp crown because the permanent one won't be in until the 7th. I made sure to tell the hospital about my temp crown when I did my pre-admit stuff today. I think you'll be okay.

My surgeon says no dental work in the month prior to surgery. I know this because I had to reschedule my surgery as I was unaware of this requirement until my last pre-op meeting which was within the 30 days and I had extensive dental work done.
But that is only My surgeons requirement another surgeon may have completely different rules etc. so the best advice is to call your surgeon and double check BEFORE having dental work done when you are getting close to your surgery date.
