ok, short version. lol. in the begining it was a low carb high protein diet. then after my final appt with my surgeon it was lowered to only protein shakes for 2 weeks before surgery. does anyone else have to do this? if you have been doing the 2 week liquid fast... have you cheated on it? be honest. i've been sticking to it and have had soem pretty serious moments where i was getting mad and cranky casue i wanted food. i might have a slice of cheese or a small handful of nuts. but i wanted to know if everyone was 100 percent dedicated. thanks so much for your feedback jennifer

Jennifer, I didn't have to go on a diet at all. The only thing was to do a fleets at 3pm the day before surgery. I did stop eating at night and switched to only diet drinks though. Can't believe it, but I lost 10 lbs before surgery!! That was easy!!! Karen

I am on the protein shake diet too. But the doc decided that at the last second to put me on one. (before he said it wasn't necessary) So I will follow the diet --with the exception of July 4th. Ive already bought the cook out supplies Melanie

I am also on protein shakes. I am allowed one "real" meal a day. It consists of 4ounces of a lean protein and 4ounces of a non-starchy veggie. YUMMY. I have survived so far until I got sick with this awful cold. Last night I drank OJ and had soup. I want to feel better. Good Luck and stay focused!!! Hugs, ~Jen W.~

My surgeon actually told me to eat tuna and drink water for the next week (it was 1 1/2 weeks when he told me) said he wants me to lose as close to 20 pounds as possible. (The whold liver thing) I am not sure if I will be able to do it or not but I am going to try hard. I wonder if the shakes would be easier?? I actually have some here and figure if I need something different I will try that first. Carie

I am not on any special diet per say. I just have to watch my fat intake which I do anyways. The only thing is I cant have anything to eat or drink 12 hours prior to surgery. So nothing for me after 9pm on July 10th. I dont know If I could stand an all liquid diet on the appetite I have now or not. Good Luck..

I also had to do 2 weeks of liquid protein. I had my surgery through the WISH center and it is their protocol. The idea is to shrink your liver prior to surgery to reduce complications and ease the bowel prep. Honestly I cheated. I had the WISH protein shakes 2-4 times a day then drank cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup the other times. I found some at Albertsons that had 0 sugar carbs. I also lost it one day and ate some of my husband's beef stew minus the veggies. It is hard!!! Hang in there! Hanan
