3 weeks on liquids--starting tomorrow!!!!
Tomorrow I begin my three week pre-op liquid diet. My RNY will be on July 19th. I was planning to begin a two week liquid diet on July 5th (my surgeon doesn't require it) but my diabetes doctor asked me to do it for three weeks so we can have even more time to fine-tune my insulin pump to a restricted eating regime.
Personally, I think she just wanted me to get a jump start on the weight loss. Either way, I'm sure I will be grateful after it is over. But right now I am a little overwhelmed and wonder if I will be able to be faithful.
I read on someone's post about writing a good-bye letter to food and I plan to do that this evening. It probably will be theraputic.
Well, you are all on notice: I will probably be posting a lot more often in the days to come!

Pam, I am on my 2nd week of my 3 week liquid diet. It does get a little easier. What will you be on? Optifast? If so, let me know and I can give you some hints to get you through.
It will be best for you whether your surgeon requires it or not. I've lost 12 pounds in the first 6 days.
Keep me posted, I love to help.

I am also doing a three week liquid diet on my own initiative - like you, I had planned to start it July 5 (my date is July 18) ... but then I weighed myself. Three weeks of liquid diet it is!
My surgeon doesn't require any liquid diet, but he said it would be helpful for me if I wanted to do it. He is going to start laparoscopically, but he warned me that I am at high risk of conversion to open. I really want lap, so I'm going to do my best to get my liver out of his way.
I'm using a Kirkland weight loss shake from Costco. Tastes about the same as Optifast, if I remember rightly.
