A mini-panic attack today as the reality of this change begins to set in. I am not supposed to have blood thinning meds (advil, asprin, etc) 10 days prior to surgery. So that mean I can't have Advil from now until... oh.... EVER. I am gonna go get drunk now.

It's so crazy how doctors differ so much! I have to take 1 asprin a day for 1 week before surgery!

Maria, It sure is getting close for us (I'm a 5 July also). So we have more than just our name in common. I'm ready for it to be done and over with. If I never had the urge to eat again, that would suit me just fine! Take care, Maria

Why would you want to increase your chance of bleeding anyway? Stick with tylenol..

It's easy for me because I am allergic to all NSAID'S and ASA. Tylenol is the only thing I can take. I would be surprised if any surgeon allowed NSAIDS,ASA or blood thinners like Warfarin/Coumadin prior to surgery. It increases the chance of post operative bleeding plus irritates your new pouch. Although I suppose some surgeons might allow an aspirin (ASA) regimen if the patient has previous cardiac problems. (but they should at least abstain a couple days prior to surgery) Anyhow, just do what the Doc tells ya...

Although my surgeon is giving me lovenox right before I head to the OR. (to prevent blood clots) There is also the risk that NSAIDS will cause ulcers in your new pouch...

I have no clue. I don't have HBP and actually I have no co-morbs whatsoever. On my papers it says to take 1 asprin everyday for one week before surgery. I have heard other doctors doing this as well.
