July 14th
Hi Amber,
I'm July 14, too! Just wanted to say hi and wish you the best.
As far as what to expect, I've learned a lot by reading the profiles of people who have already had the procedure done with my surgeon. (Check to see if your surgeon has a patient forum here.) All the profiles are helpful, but "going local" has given me at least a little more specific idea about how things work where I'll be. Is there a support group near you? That's bound to be another great source of info. I haven't been to mine yet, but plan to.
I'm sure you'll get a list of what to take when you do all your pre-op stuff. It seems like different surgeons have different recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions!
Good luck!
Tara
Hi Amber and Tara!
I, too, am having surgery on the 14th! I got a call yesterday from the hospital to schedule the pre-op bloodwork, etc. - got that for the 6th.
After reading all of the profiles regarding what to take to the hospital, I've decided to go very light - toothbrush/toothpaste, brush, deoderant, undies, pads (heard you can start bleeding after abdominal surgery), slippers, and, of course a book! The gowns are nice and big - tie one in the back and put another on over tying in the front as a robe.
The 14th will be here before we know it!!!!
