How about you?
Hi Amy and welcome! Well from what I've been told due to our surgery altering our stomachs we are at risk of damaging our pouches if they were to use a N/G tube during and emergency (thi is a tube they would put down our throats and all the way into our stomachs. W/o using a scope to watch what they are doing they could punture our pouches. Also Nsaids (anti-inflamatories) will also cause damage so we can't take them.
Hi Dawn,
Yep, I ordered mine last week too. I ordered it from American Medical ID. I decided to go with the plain stainless steel with the charm because I have heard that if you get the fancy ones, the EMT's might not see them. I probably should have gotten one a long time ago, because of my Penicillin allergy and asthma, but now I will have one that says it all. Anyway, I had a real problem finding one that would fit my larger wrist. I always seem to have that problem with bracelets and watches and most of the Med-ID's for women were only 7" and not large enough for me right now. I realize I will lose weight and that will probably decrease my wrist size, but I needed something that would fit now AND later. Anyway thanks for asking. Blessings on your journey!

I just found out from them that I'm allowed 34 chart. on front and 34 on back so I put it this way.
Dawn Catlin-Strait
Gastric Bypass- 2005 (On front)
RNY, No N/G Tube w/o scope,
No NSAIDS (on back)
I also comes with a wallet card where I will put my phone # etc in pencil so that it can be changed is my # or address changes and my surgeons information. I didn't want to put it on the braclet for this reason.
How did you get it on the front and on the back...I was confused...
I looked at the website:
http://www.911med411.com/products.php?list&categ=2&id=8&pag=1
and it seemed to me a little easier to understand, but I think the cost might be slightly higher...
I am not sure when I should order it though???? Should I wait until right before surgery or after? I am superstitious when it comes to these type of things, and I always feel that if I buy the things now, that right before, something will happen and all will be stopped!
Ugh...I am in topsy - turvy turmoil right now!!!!!!!
Better go to bed, and put this mind to rest!!!
HAve a good night
Here's what the email said:

I changed it above to add my name and surgery year. If I'm allowed 34 letters on the front and back I'm going to use them. I paid $5.95 extra.
You got the very same one I did... and I got mine the other day (less than a week after order.)
I think you will be happy... it is very feminine... yet I think the dangly-red-medic alert charm shuold capture attention.
Also... the engraving is subtle.
I was worried that anyone sitting to my left was going to know my medical history just by glancing at my wrist... and it is too subtle for that. You have to LOOK to read it.
They also followed my instructions EXACTLY which is great.
In the "special instructions" part of the order form (last page when paying, I think it was) I put "Put as much as possible on back of bracelet. If both sides are needed, please make refererce to the fact that info is ALSO on the otehr side, such as "also see reverse".
(Cause I don't trust medical folks to think to turn it over.)
Mine ended up being like this:
Front:
Allergy:
Erythromycin, Cipro
(also see reverse)
Back:
GASTRIC RNY PT
NO BLIND NG TUBE
NO NSAIDS
