AM I correct in saying
AM I correct in saying To someone on this board that during their surgery there has to be someone staying at the hospital at least until she's out of surgery? I read in one of our friends profiles that their son in law was driving them to the hospital and then leaving so they don't have to sit and wait a long time during her surgery. I emiled her and told her I thought that during any kind of surgery someone has to be there in case of an emergency. Am I wrong? I haven't heard back from her but I'm worried for her. I hope she doesn't get mad about me writting this post if she sees it, I just want to be sure I'm giving her correct information. I did tell her they may tell her this when she goes to do all the pre-op stuff. I just wanted her to have someone lined up in time that is willing and able to stay there while she's in surgery.
I think you are correct Dawn. I was worried no one would be there for me when I have my surgery because I thought my bfs job would tell him he would have to work no matter what. ANd then my mother doesn't drive on the highway. But luckily his boss's sister had wls last year and he knows how important it is to be there. And my dad told me yesterday my family on his side are all going to pile up and come to the hospital to be there for me. I am thankful because I am so nervous. My bf is having to go back to work the next day but I'm sure someone in my family will be there to check on me.
I dont think youre wrong for saying what you did Dawn, it shows you care. I believe that someone should be there. Putting aside the "complications or emergency" situations that may arise, for support when you wake up. I know in my case, my guy is driving me down @ 5:30am and hanging all day while my parents are coming up later that day. I know I'll be out of it most of the day but knowing they are there will make me feel alot better.
You did the right thing!
