Hi Janice~
As tempting as it may be, I would probably hold off for now. I love clothes shopping so this is very difficult for me. I was talking to one of my friends that had the surgery in January and she has already gone from a size 26 to a 12. However, according to her and other, bariatric weight and "normal" are different. She says the skin is so soft that you could be at a particular weight but wouldn't think it would be associated for that size. For instance, years ago I lost alot of weight, got down to 149lb and wore a size 12. With gastric bypass, I might be 179lbs and wear a size 12. I think it has to do more with the elasticity of your skin after surgery. Also, she said that your weight loss is so fast until its a "waste" to buy clothes. She said literally you can buy a new pair of pants and a week later put them on and they are to big. Not a little bit big, but noticeably big where it looks funny to wear. If you do shop, make sure the deal you get is amazing because you may only get a chance to wear the outfit once. Think about it, depending on bone size, height & structure, etc. at goal, you can conceiveably be anywhere from a size 2 to 14 or so. There's a big difference.
If you are like me, you have clothes in so many different sizes. Try rearranging you closet biggest sizes on down. Use what you have. Once you hit goal hit the mall and shop like you mean it!!!

I totally understand what you're saying, and thank you for responding, I had no idea about the size issue. Soulds very interesting. Although, what I was thinking wasn't anything for on the way down, I do have plenty of clothes for that but absolutely nothing in my closet is smaller than a 14 so what I was thinking was looking at something I never dared to dream about wearing and buying it as a goal. Something I've always wanted to weart but never could/would. low cut, sleeveless for instance. Just one thing fun to look forward to, not a closet full.
I shop at thrift stores so it probably wouldn't even be over $5.00.

I understand. I was just talking about buying clothes in general and the fact that it's almost impossible to figure out what size we will be down to. You might have a goal of size 10 and buy something super sexy. But, you may end up being a 6. Geez, can you imagine...
Aw heck...go for it. Might as well start the fun now!

Wasn't it fun! I probably have 12-26 in my closet.
Has anyone else here NEVER shopped in an Ann Taylor... or Banana Republic... or Limited... or Old Navy... or (whatever) because you knew if they DID, by some miracle, have somethign to fit you -- you'd have like one choice and it would be ugly?
I can't imagine going into a mall and being able to shop in EVERY store -- and not just Lane Bryant.
My checking account is going to be in more pain than me at 9-12 months post-op.
