I finished up my tests that had to be done before they submitted all of the paper work to my insurance company and it's been 1 week since I took the last test. That doc. told me he would have it turned into my surgeon before the end of that week so I know they have everything. My ? is that I don't want to call my surgeons office until I call the insurance company to see if they have even recieved my paper work which seems to be going to a local office here in town, so who do I call? Is there a phone number I would use on the back of my ins. card or what? A special area I need to ask for or what? Thanks for your help.

Hi Dawn, I don't know if I can be of any help since my insurance paying was never an option. From the posts I've read, you should call the number on the bank of your card and ask for something like the procedure aprroval office. Not sure what it's called. OR Just call the number and say, "I need to know if you have received my records from my doctor regarding my upcoming surgery" and they should transfer you to the right department. Good luck.

Yeah, their offices probably close at 5:00 or so. Although you have nothing to lose....

Uggggh! The insurance call. I will pray that all goes well for you. Call the number on the back of the card but, be prepared to be bounced around. Many call day after day only to be told something different each time. "It was received" "It wasn't received" "it's pending", "we don't cover this surgery anymore" "are you sure your surgeon sent it" etc. etc. Be sure that you write down everyones name that you talked to and the time that you called and what they said. There's a department that I think you should ask for but you should probably post this ? on the main board since I have forgotten. I'm sure that you will have no problem when you call tomorrow but I want you to be prepared for what may happen. Good luck!!!!!! ~CK

Dawn - I started calling my insurance company 6 days after the surgeons office said that they sent in my paperwork. I called everyday for almost two weeks before I got my approval!! I just called the 800 number on the back of my card and said I was calling about a predetermination letter that had been sent in. They looked on the computer, asked what the procedure was and either told me no info yet or on that wonderful day a man named Kevin told me I was approved!! I told him that he was my new best friend and if he was any where near me right then I would give him the biggest kiss he ever got He laughed and then told me that a letter would be going out confirming my approval. Now here I am waiting for my day. Actually, I have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday. I find out all the details of my surgery and get the final actual date, since my date is only tentative. I know that I will not go sooner but I pray that I do not have to go later!! Good luck and talk to you soon, Nancy

I calle before the insurance company received anything. I used the number on my card and then listed till they said "If you have a question about precertifying, press #. It worked every time I called every other day for the 4 weeks it was at review.
