Post-op diet?
Hi! I was wondering what you guys have been told for your post-op diet? My doctor says I can have soft foods like cheese and eggs along with the pureed food. I was under the assumption that I would be on ONLY liquids or pureed foods for a while. I know my surgeon know's what he's doing but I thought I'd see what instructions you have received. Thank you!
Tina
Tina,
My surgeon follows the national guidelines set by the bariatric society. Liquids (clear) first week, full liquids second week, pureed food the third week, soft mechanical diet weeks 5,6,7 and 8 (those foods consist of baked fish, baked potatoes (no skin), bananas, canned veggies (no seeds), hot cereal made with skim milk, low fat cottage cheese 1%, crisp toast, ground chicken or turkey, pouched or soft cooked eggs, non-fat sugar free yogurt, pasta, low fat soups, low fat casseroles, low fat cheeses, low fat refried beans, non fat crackers, non sweetened cold cereals, tuna (packed in water), melons (no seeds), smooth peanut butter, sugar free pudding made with skim milk, canned fruit packed in water/natural juices, macaroni and cheese made w/skim milk and non fat/ low fat cheese.)
Hope this helps ...

Hi My surgeon wants me on 100% cleare liquids for 2 weeks and then we have another 1 on 1 with him and then they tell us what soft foods we can have That's about all I know, all Dr's are different in how they want their patients to start out, wether it be liquids or soft fofds. **********************************************Cheri
