Hi. My name is Jennifer White. My surgery date is July 6th. I attend a weight management program (pre-op requirement). For the past month, I have gained almost 10 pounds. I have been up and down for the past month and half. Has anyone else experienced this? I am soooo... afraid my doctor will not do my surgery because I have gained. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Unfortunatly I have been gaining weight to and I'm also deathly afraid that my Dr. won't due my surgery either. They told me that if I gain more that 5lbs. they would cancel the surgery until I lost 50lbs.m on my own. If that was so easy I would'nt need this surgery. I recently quit smoking for this surgery and I'm sure that is my main problem why I'm eating way to much. I'm having mine on July 6th too I'm trying to eat alot of fruit instead of the junk. It's hard I know. ****************Cheri

I am not alone!!! I had to see a dietician and doctor for weightloss for six months before insurance would approve me. They approved me and I had redicovered food!! I have only (and listen to that only) gained 4 pounds but it has only been a month!! I just was telling someone that I need to stop eating again! I am glad to hear that I am not alone. I have the same fear, that the surgeon will laugh in my face and tell me that I should not have gained anything. I go back to him on the 16th and I want to loose those 4 pounds before I go there!! I have gained a little in the last month but I start a pre-op Optifast diet on the 20th so I'll be taking it off plus some before surgery. My doctor requires Optifast before surgery because he has had a couple patients with serious complications who ate right up to their date. He says it's not worth risking his patients. I am on my farewell tour too but I'm about to pull into my last city soon. One last trip to Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Dairy Queen.

I had started gaining weight but I got sick and lost some of it. Then I decided to just drink water and crystal light. And I have lost the rest. I noticed because I went with my fiancee and nephew to help him learn to hit and catch the baseball and I wasn't too tired after all that running in this Texas heat.

I think I have gained a pound or two due to "last-meal-itis".. .but I am trying to keep it under control. I don't want to "fatten" up my liver any more than I have to. But I am also trying not to deprive myself of my favoriate things. I actually bought some of the low-carb (low sugar) slim fast meal replacemetns yesterday, I can subsititute a few meals with those.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. Seriously I think I've gained 10 lbs since my consultation with the surgeon back in April. Part of it I think is nerves and the other is that "last meal" thing. I think I'll really try to watch my diet the next few wks. I have 3 more weeks to go before my week of liquids. -Dee
