I had a mixed consult reaction this morning. he said yes, he could do a breast reduction- and insurance would cover it- since I would be willing to lose more than 500 on each breast- still making me a nice C- and they would be raised about 6 inches. but no to the panni removal- he said because my BMI was still over 30- i'm 5'3 and 183 pounds he told me to lose 30-35 more pounds then he could say he would recommend it- heck- i haven't lost a pound since jan 2006- i just don't know- wouldn't having the reduction make the stomach look even bigger? but would i be able to work out once again- back pain, shoulder/neck etc.. and lose some of the stomach- maybe not neededthe panni that much afterall- i'll never be a flat tummy person anyway.. i just have to be happy.. so i'm not sure what to do. jennifer

Jennifer, I was also told I could by my Plastic Surgeons office that the breasts would probably be covered. But the belly as it stands now is a no as far as insurance coverage. This is what I think: I think that you have to be willing to prove to them your medical neccesity. I have gone through the same thought process as you wondering if the smaller (but perkier) breasts will make me look weird. I have decided that I will go with a smaller type implant in each breast to keep my shape... I say honey if they will pay and maybe you have to kick in some additional like me for the implants and you can afford it , do it. Mine should run about a thousand for the saline ones.. a bit more for silicone .. Do what you need to do for you!.. Keep at it. Work on your diet. Maybe change things up a bit , if the Doctor says to lose some weight give it a try. You might be very surprised and find that losing weight is different now (easier in a way). Maybe join Weigh****chers, or get on the South Beach diet for a few months.. You would show that your intentions are true and you never know insurance might change the way they are motivated to help you. I wish you good luck always.. peace Mo

One little hint though, if they suggest losing the remaining weight before any tummy work is done, you really should consider it. I have known some people who did not wait and they weren't as happy with the results. And this is one type of surgery you really don't want to have a revision on if necessary. Sue P S Just my 2 cents
