could use some support...
Hi all...have not been on here in a very long time, but have had some seious complications from my wls, and wanted to get some some feedback from u all, if i can...was on vacation in Washington state, 4/13, and was hospitalized with sudden onset of severe abdominal pain radiating to left shoulder...was admitted with free abdominal air and fluid, secondary to a ruptured ulcer, was very close to emergency surgery for peritonitis,as well as partially collapsed lung from fluid there as well. but it started resolving with antibiotics. anyway, surgeon is telling me, there seems to be possibly a fistula posibly between the pouch and remnant stomach. it has just ben a nightmare, with continung pain and very low energy.was just getting settled from being newly divorced, and now am dealing with this complication. Could use any input or info any of u may have about this, and of course appreciate ur support.

Hi Pam, wow, sounds like you have been through the mill! I have had no problem like this, but my cousin had a ruptured ulcer last summer and did have to have emergency surgery and just last month, she was back in the hospital with another bleeding ulcer. She is doing better now, but has tons of stress in her life and the doctors think for her that caused or contributed to the ulcers. So I am telling you all this why? Not to scare you, but to let you know your not alone, that there can be complications we all have to be aware of and look out for. Please take care of yourself! Going through a divorce is enough stress for anyone, but with medical things going on too, yes, it is a nightmare. I wish you all the best, fast healing, and please let us know how you are doing. Sharing your story may help someone else having symptoms and don't know what they are. {{{Hugs}}} PM me if you ever need to talk.

Pam ~ I'm afraid that I don't have much in the way of help but just wanted to give you some support. My dad suffered from bleeding ulcers. He had some other intestinal problems that eventually led to peritonitis. Given his age (76) and other heart problems, he was unable to fight the peritonitis. Peritonitis can be very serious so it's good you've had some success with treatment. Please keep us posted on your progress. I think most of us think we're "safe" from complications because we're almost 2 years post; however it's important to keep in mind that problems can arise at any time and it's good to know what to look for.

Pam -
I am sorry that I do not have any experience with what you are going through but I wanted to give you some hugs ((((((((PAM))))))))))))! I saw your post on the singles board and then again here and I thought there is no way I can not hug this women and tell her that I am here if you need to talk or if there is anything that I can do for you.
I hope you are feeling better soon!

Awww Pam (((((((HUGS)))))) I'm SO glad you responded well to the antibiotics. Fistulas can be a pain in the gut, so to speak. My mom has Crohnes disease and has dealt with these intestinally. I know you can be repaired... that's the good thing! Dealing with them, and having another surgery though is very depressing. I will keep you in my prayers. Please keep us updated!!!!
