Curious!
Hey all I was just lurking here on the board. I have a question for you all.. I had surgery in July 2006. I guess I'm having those normal "am I failing" fears. My question is what was your starting weight and what is your weight currently? I just got off of a stall from 224 finally at 211. And again I am at a stall. I fear I won't make it to my goal. I know I shouldn't rely on numbers because I am a lot healthier but I guess we put a lot of extra pressure on ourselves based upon that number.. that magic number.
How long did it take you all to get to goal?
What is your exercise like now beyond 18 months out?
If anyone of you have a meal plan you could share with me that would be amazing.
I would like to hear from each and everyone of you.
Thanks again,
Katrina
Hi Katrina! Congratulations on your weight loss. I read that you have lost 100+ since your highest weight and your not even a year out yet. You are very successful. Seriously, you are! Be proud of your self. We all lose at different rates and stalls are so normal for everyone. But they are a real bummer aren't they? I started at 388 now weigh 186 but am a size 10 and med top where I was a size 32-4X before surgery. I continued to lose until about 17 Months out and then have leveled off. I do my eliptical glider about 3-4 times a week, and keep up the protein, vitamins, don't drink after meals for at least 30 minutes, etc. I worry about re-gain but not excessively. I think you will keep losing for a good while just might come in spurts! I still do a protein drink or shake each day and try to have protein first at every meal. Hope this helps in some way and feel free to lurk here with us anytime.
Katrina,
Sounds like you're right on schedule to me. After a year the WL does slow down, but as long as you've made those life changes, you'll continue to be successful.
If you are spending a lot of time at the gym, I've learned that switching up your excersise plan can jump start the WL again. Your body tends to get used to what you are doing and it stops losing as quickly. I know people who would spend hours in the gym every day and lost SO slowly. Remember too that muscle weighs more than fat! Anyway, change up your excersise routine a bit, always eat protein first, and you'll be just fine!
When I hit my final stall, I ate fish everyday for lunch. Woke up one day 20 pounds lighter! It was literally almost overnight! So... I still eat a lot of fish because it worked so well for me in the final stages.
HUGS
Kimberly
ps... many of us lurked on the july 04 board for the very reason you have posted here. I remember those days! We always compared ourselve to those a year further than we were to see if we were "normal".
Come back anytime!
