Pain in my gut
Hey guys,
I had a trip to Urgent Care & then to ER on Thursday. I wrote about the whole experience in my profile, but I thought I would update ya'll. In short, I had a pain in my gut. Right above my belly button. It had the Dr's all stumped as it was too low to be pouch related, too high to be an intestinal 'bug' and to much in the center to be appendix or anything. (I don't have a gall bladder anymore). And I had no other symptoms. Going to the bathroom like normal, no nausea or vomiting. Just pain. They wanted to do a CT scan (which is why I had to go to the ER, that's where it is), but it was down & so I wasn't able to get one done. But then the pain started receding and I've felt better ever since. Of course I haven't really eaten anything either though. We'll see how I feel once I start doing that. But my surgeon called Friday afternoon (I hadn't eaten anything yet because I was too scared to) and said he wanted to see me first thing Monday morning. Apparently the Dr's were supposed to call him & give him an update and they never did. He was not a happy camper I hear. Anyway, I was told to be prepared to have the CT scan done on Monday. Oh and by the way, stay on a full liquid diet all weekend. !!!! And oh MAN has it sucked!!! It's strange how insidious food is and kind of wormed it's way back into my life like it did. I am really upset and in a bad mood because I can't eat. How dumb is that? So, needless to say, I'll be glad when the weekend is over! I'm just glad it's not Thanksgiving weekend!
Take care everyone! Thought I would give ya'll a quick update. Will let you know how the Appt goes on Monday. Been writing about it in my profile, too.
Hugs,
Lisa

Yikes Lisa!
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Good idea to still get the CT scan tho, can't be too careful.
Look on the bright side too, now you don't have to worry about fitting in the scanner. A problem I had pre-op and they were trying to diagnose my bad gall bladder was my PCP couldn't find a scanner that could accept my 430 pounds and I was too fat for the ultrasound test to be conclusive.
I hope they find your problem and it is minor.
Tim
Hey Lisa! wow did this just come on suddenly? I am glad they are doing a scan though, just to see if something is going on. May be nothing but we can't be too careful. Yepper, the liquid diet thing is so hard! I did it for 6 weeks before surgery and I don't know how I did it. I guess I wanted the surgery so bad, I was willing to do whatever. Take care and let us know what they say! {{{{HUGS}}}}}
Hi guys,
I only have time for a quick update. THANK YOU to all *****plied & thought of me and wished me well. I *really* appreciated it. It's scary having weird pain that you don't know what it is.
So I go in for my appointment on Monday sure that I was going to get a CT scan. Even the office alluded to the fact I was going to get a CT scan that day. But there were no openings when they went to schedule me, so I'm scheduled for Nov 28th. I'll have to drink a bunch of barium and they will look at my guts & see what's going on. They are worried that an obstruction might be starting (from scar tissue from the surgery), a kink might be starting, or even an internal hernia. But I was released to eat (Yippee!!) so I'm a happy camper! I just have to take it nice and slow and be careful. And if I have any pain like I did, I'm to go back to the ER & get an emergency CT scan. So, we'll see how it goes. I'm just glad I get to eat Thanksgiving dinner!
So, the gist of all this is that I'm feeling much better than I was. Thanks goodness, cause that SUCKED!
Thanks again for your support and thoughts guys. This is my home away from home.
HUGS!!!
Lisa
