so i went in for my 3 month new meal plan- I was EXACTLY the same- didn't gain didn't lose an ounce.... she just "dismissed"me.. and said I needed to come back in 2 months to see surgeon (she is the nurse practioner). and said I had to see the dietician- she was in and out- within 3 minutes. WHAT??? so the dietician came in- and was suprised. so she recommended me to see a weight management dr that's in the same area in the hospital- i was hesitent- maybe i'm just suppose to be this weight- i asked about plastics- well then she brought in the nurse for the weight management dr- she's had gastric bypass and also the plastics- and now works with this weight management dr.. so on november 10th- i'm going in to see him. she said he'll probably do a metabolical? anaylsis- and see if he recommends- a metabolism medication (didn't know they made something like that?) or appitite suppresent since always hungry still.. she and the dietician were suprised I wasn't referred to him about 6 months ago.. since i haven't lost anything in 10 FLIPPEN months... we'll see if he can help me lose some more weight... I really want to see 150- if not 140... i'm only 5'2".... geesh... my update anyway. jennifer

Jennifer, Dropping a quick note... I know how you feel.. I am frustrated so much of the time and am constantly thinking about my weight and about needing to lose more. I also am hungry a lot of the time and can eat most of what I could pre-surgery. I have lost about 60 pounds and am at 178. I had gotten down to about 168 or so; Im not totally sure because my "new" scales are weighing me higher than my old ones. At my one year follow up they told me I was a "success" because I had lost over 60% of my excess fat and I also received a letter from my surgeon stating that I was a success because of that. I think I have lost about 64% or something like that. I quit losing a long time ago and have blamed myself because I don't exercise like I should and don't eat exactly like I should even though I know many who had this surgery that eat more than I do and do fine. I keep telling myself that I can still lose more weight and that it will happen but as time goes on I am getting worried that it won't. Sometimes I think I should just be happy at 178, and, generally I think I can but I fear gaining more back and then I won't be happy at all. I'm sure you know certain meds can encourage weight gain so be careful of that. I am currently on topamax for migraine control and have recently upped it to see if it will help me with appetite control some to help me get a grip on some of this (I tend to want to graze). Good luck. Pam

BTW, here is an updated picture of me at my current weight now. This is my family; my two sons 15 and 18 and my husband. Unfortunately the picture is kind of blurred. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b336/OneUp123/IMG_0768.jpg Here is a before picture. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b336/OneUp123/preop.jpg Just sharing. What a gorgeous family! And it looks like they all have that ectomorph frame; frustrating, I know! I bet you have lots of food and real meals in your house. I'm having an awful time losing, and I'm a single-parent empty-nester so I don't have all the goodies around all the time. I have stayed around the same weight 6 months at a time. Over the last 10 months, I've lost 10 pounds. BUT, I AM NORMAL FOR THE FIRST TIME! Not "normal" in weight - I still have 40 pounds to lose, but normal in the fact that I can feel hunger and feel full and use my body to control my eating. These last 40 pounds will get off of me when I use the same difficult dieting and exercising that all my other "fluffy" friends have to do. The difference from before surgery is now that type of dieting and exercise will actually work! I hope... I actually haven't tried it. I am still enjoying my new size, eating abilities, and gentle walking versus heavy-duty aerobics. Alas... Frances from Charlotte, NC
