It was! I was so lucky to get that ticket. One of my freinds had 6 but they were all spoken for. Then his daughter pulled out as it was an early game and she had to work. That opened up 2 tickets so me and my bud Frank snatched em up. We got there early, as soon as the gates opened up and headed down to the third base line area to watch batting practice. The weather was mostly sunny and about 50 degrees but with a bit of a wind. Still the sun was nice and it really wasn't all that cold.We were no more that 15 feet from Carlos Guillen and the manager Jim (the wizard of Woodward Ave.) Lealand. After watching practice we wandered for a while, soaking in and enjoying the ambiance of the playoff experience. We finally headed up (and I do mean up) to our seats just before the national anthem. Our seats were just a little to the left of directly behind home plate and way up in the nosebleed section of the 3rd deck, just 4 or 5 rows from the top. We were way up there but Comerica Park is really very well designed and we could see great. One of the women in our party is significantly obese and had a bit of a time climbing all those ramps and stairs. Made me think of how tough it would have been for me just a little over a year ago. My buddy Frank goes about 290 and the seats were a bit narrow for him but I fit in them quite comfortable. And with a standing room crowd of almost 43,000 people every one was filled. The Tigers bats were cold early and the A's scored in the first 2 innings to cause the crowd to be a little concerned. A's outfielder Milton Bradley seemed to have the Tigers pitching figured out the whole series and I'm glad we don't have to face him any more. Finally the Tigers tied it up in the 6th and you could just feel the crowd ready to explode. They gave everybody on of those white towels and it was pretty darn cool seeing them all waving. Finally to the chant of "MAGGLIO O-E-O"(think of the witches guards from "The Wizard of Oz") , Magglio Ordonez smacked that sucker into the left field bleachers and the noise coulda knocked down a jet flying a mile or 3 up. After watching all the ceremonies and just plain old partying in the stands for a while we headed down giving high 5's to everybody we saw. My hand still hurts. We then went to an after game party with some other people who were there and some who could only watch it on TV. I had a ****tail or 3 but stayed in relative control and got home about 2AM. This city needed this real bad. Things are tough around here economicly and this team has given Detroit a boost and a half! The best thing is it aint over yet. These guys got a real good chance to go all the way! World Series tickets go on sale on line tommorow at 10:00 am and I'm sure gonna try and get some. I managed to snag a ticket the last time they went back in '84 (yes I'm that old) and to go again would be AWWWWWEEEESSSOOOMMMEEE!!! Anyway, that was my ALCS experience. I'd do recovery mode today but I need to go move some dirt now. GO TIGERS!! ROARRRRR!!! Tim
