BMI Poll

Now that we are about 15 months out, I'm curious about where people are on the BMI chart. So here is a poll: What is your BMI? Are you at goal? If not, what is your goal BMI? Do you feel the BMI weight ranges are reasonable for your height? My answers: Current BMI: 29.2 Goal BMI: 27 I think the BMI charts are reasonable for most people at my height (5'2"), but I will probably always be in the overweight range. My surgeon has said that the BMI ranges are too low for post-bariatric people.

5'6" tall, 150 lbs. At goal!!! My bmi is 24.2 (normal) and I used to think the weight ranges were unrealistic and that I'd never fall within the range, but now I do. I definitely notice being older and giving birth twice really makes a difference in the BMI. I feel like I still weigh a lot, but I'm a size 8, so I'm not complaining, but I would think at a size 8, I would be in the 130's.

Hi, My BMI is currently 30.6 I am not at goal (darnit!) I weigh 201 (I've been ping-ponging between 201 and 204 for the past two months. My doctor's goal for me was 200lbs. My goal of being considered normal is 164. My goal BMI is 24.9/25.0 only because I want to be considered normal. I do feel the range is reasonable for my height. I am 5'8" and my goal weight of 164ish seems reasonable. I say 164ish because I've never been this thin since achieving my full height so I don't know what weight will look okay. I've been working out faithfully for the past 5 weeks in hopes of getting this final 35lbs off. I guess the final few lbs are going to have to come off via plastics, which I am thinking about beginning to look into. I don't want to ru**** and not have a good outcome because I lose 20 or more lbs after the plastic surgery. Sorry, I got a little off your topic here. Take Care, Terry

I am a 25.1 BMI - and not at goal yet so I now believe the charts are pretty realistic. According to my surgeons website, 24.9 is the high end of normal. WOW Janice 260/155/145

My BMI is 24.00 I weight 167 and I'm 5'10 I'm past my goal. I use to think the BMI was not reasonable at all but now that I have made it to goal I think it is ok.

At 5' 11" and 205 lbs my BMI is currently 28.6 which is still considered overweight. At my goal weight of 185 my BMI would be 25.8 which is also still considered overweight. I would have to get down to 178 to have a BMI that is considered "normal". I notice the BMI calculators don't take your sex into account and wonder if that is really correct. I think 185 is a good weight for me.

What is your BMI? 22.3 Are you at goal? I'm below my goal. I'm 5' 8" and weigh 146. My original goal was 170 and revised goal was 155. Do you feel the BMI weight ranges are reasonable for your height? Even though I'm below my goal BMI and goal weight, I think they are a low for the general population. I'm frequently told that I'm "skinny" and don't need to lose anymore. I've gone from being the "fat" chick at work to being the thinnest one - go figure - never thought I'd be there! Well, I'm 15 months out today from my DS. My current BMI is 19.9 I am below goal. I currently weigh 127lbs and had a goal of 140lbs at 5'7" and a small frame (who would have thought it!). I'm trying very hard not to drop down any further. My surgeon isn't worried unless I fall below 19 - which obviously hasn't happened yet. It's tough for me to say whether or not this is reasonable since I've never weighed this little. I do think I'm pretty thin for my height, but it's tough to really see with all this skin! Good question Sharon
