Sad News
As many of you know I shared with you back in June that I was very involved with taking away my niece's son. She was a 20 year herion user and living on the streets with a 2 year old. We got him into foster care and her into treatment.
Well last night 1 day before "graduating" from the treatment program and on her 36th birthday, my niece died from a herion overdose. It is easy to speculate about what went wrong when it was looking like she was doing so well, but we will never know. My guess is that the pressure and fear of going back out into the "real" world was to much for her and she turned back to the only way she felt she could to cope. I'm thankful that when this happened her and her son were off the streets. How horrible could this have been if she had done this when they were living in the abandoned warehouse. He is safe and the foster parents that have been caring for him the last several months may be interested in adopting him permanently.
When things like this happen it really helps me keep my "problems" in perspective. Bless each and everyone of you and cherish the moments you have with family and friends. You never know when you won't have another chance.
