ok- need some thoughts answered.. if we don't get pregnant- i would like the adominascapy- right.. ok- so 3 months ago- the nurse practioner from my surgeon (who everyone sees postop) said- i had to lose 9 more pounds in order for her to say- yes she can give me a referral for it... well at that time- i didn't really want it- but the last month- i've been getting the rashes under my stomach fold- and it won't go away- i need to get in and document it.. also have had back pain really bad the last oh- 9 months- i've been "steady" at this weight since 5 months out- not losing more than 10 pounds up or down... i really would like now to get rid of these stomach- no other plastics i would want- just this stomach gone... and it doesn't matter how much i eat or not eat- or exercise- it's not budging.. so on the 20th is my 3 month check up- and since i didn't lose the 9 pounds she won't give me the referral..... but i have the back pain and rashes- so couldn't my primary - over ride her and/or give me the referral. i emailed healthpartners- and they said if i have the back pain and rashes- then the adominalspy is covered in my plan. i don't need a referral for specialist- i could just make an appointment with plastics...(that's what they said to me)...... so what do you think? jennifer

Dang, I say go for it girl! Plastics will not be covered for me no way, no how. So if you can do it, I say DO IT! What's the worst that could happen, the surgeon would say no? You're already not doing it, so might as well get the process started and see how far you get! Can you imagine not having a stomach? How cool would that be?? Good luck! Lisa

I dont see why another doctor couldnt give you a referral. Go for it. It doesnt hurt to try. Oh, and for the rashes, try using this stuff called Carlistat. Its for rashes..its like a skin protectant. It works. To me it sort of seems like the same stuff as Desitin. Good luck!

Hi Jen I personally would recommend the pregnancy before the plastics. Sometimes it's best to do it that way so you don't stretch your new skin with a pregnancy. My surgeon recommended that I get pregnant first then plastics later. Let us know how you make out.......... Marie

Before you clear up the rashes, document them if you haven't already. Pictures and/or doctor visit to verify. So even if over the counter meds will clear them up, you want a medical record showing that you are getting the rashes, and it is a result of the flappy skin you need removing. I was going to say go to your pcp and then when you wrote that you didn't need a referral, I was going to say to go straight to a plastic surgeon. So I would definitely go for it. Its your body.
