Frustrated with My Republican party.
Crap. I wanna really support my party but I am thinking at this point what the hell was i thinking? Yeah, the idealogy is the same - limited govt. more people power, less taxes, yeah, ok..... but - man, they are not giving me love right now. BUT for that matter, NEITHER is the DEMOCRATIC party.
I feel like everyone all around is in it to prove a point, to state a second's worth of commercial, to think like they GET what we feel as a country and none of them do.
Good grief. It's pretty simple.
We are a unique nation. We stand for a bunch of things we believe in. We TRULY believe that if we can work hard enough we can achieve it - whether you are irish or mexiacan or whatever. dudn't matter.
i think most of us believe in less taxes. I think most of believe that we SHOULD help our communities prosper. I think most of us believe that we should NOT take on the damn democracy creed and spread it to the world. Goddang it. If people want it, let them come here. We will welcome them. But shoot, go out and be what we are now? nuh uh. Let's take care of our own sick. our own poor. let no child go unfed in this country, or untaught.
what do you feel?
YOUR thoughts?
Goldwater Republicans need to reclaim the party. I am absolutely not a conservative, but I admire the positions of Goldwater regarding church/ state separations and individual freedom.
My god celebrates diversity and promotes committed parents and spouses, be they straight or gay, rich or poor, native or immigrant, educated or not. My god supports universal health care...and a public infrastruture that keeps this nation moving forward. My god appreciates dissent and, beyond the 10 commandments, sees the wisdom in the world's great religions. My god seeks security through strength and understanding, not sound bites that translate into putting our brave soldiers into situations which are questionable under the Geneva codes.
My god fumes at the Enron coziness that was enjoyed earlier, and the vulgar relationship between Halburton and the administration.
My god would be thrilled to see us adopt a real plan for energy independence.
As a 30 year, Masters of Community Development degreed, union member, pubic employee, I am embarassed that the current KY. governor is our own "Bushlite," steeped in a quagmire of curruption and ideology that has him now indicted.
We need to get away from this first family bullsh_t once and for all. We need to say NO to Hillary just as we should have said NO to George.
As for taxes, Nan, I see no other way to pay down the national debt.
And I'd take a competent President who accepted, and yes , promoted, a ******* from a young, but of age, impressionable woman in a heartbeat!
Dave
Hey Dave, your god and my god must be the same god. i am a republican and celebrate diversity. i have to - i'm not white or affluent or a man.
I am a republican and accept gay and lesbian relationships. I volunteered on our city's gay task force for 2 years and watched people live and I also watched them die. I know all about that.
I truly love your ideals - and I really wished everyone were so intelligent, educated and sure in their ways.
The problem is - so many people are swayed by popular opinion and by the radio djs and by union talk and so forth. It doesn't matter who's doing it - we KNOW there are PACs all over the place - official or unofficial. Families and family way of thinking for instance - my Dad is a SERIOUS Democrat and just HATES that I am a Republican. I have to keep reminding him that hey, I took 4 YEARS of poli sci classes to major in political administration and I made the choice wisely, I think. I truly did examine both parties.
As far as taxes go, I think we should commercialize the normal inefficient govt. systems that exist. Let a private company or companies take charge of medicare or the postal system. The market works and in no place like the US is it ever proven again and again. the market allows people to decide who are the superheroes doing a great job and who suck at it and are trying to suck every dime out of us. we're a smart, young country. we can afford the risk. and we're also a craing country. we give more money to charities and 'causes' than anywhere or anyone else in the world.
Ok, I loveya, kiddo! I hope we get to meet during the Lexington thing - but if not, if you are driving along US 23 in Eatern KY anytime, please do drop in with your wife! I'm sure we'd have a wonderful time!
Loveya,
Nan

OMG........I'm sorry! I'm just feeling very sassy today! It's not my fault....it's the red hair talking.
